Meet Dr. Neisa Jenkins, Founder of I Am Beautiful Too Ministry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neisa Jenkins.

Neisa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started I Am Beautiful Too Ministry in 2008. As women, we are faced with so many changes in our lives and somehow we continue to defy the odds and be the strength and lifeline in our families and communities. My purpose is to let women know that they are not alone in these experiences and there is someone who cares about them.

Someone who is willing to go through the difficult times with them providing resources and support. I believe that in spite of all that women go through, out of all the good times and the bad, we are still here, still relevant, still striving, still making it happen, still providing, still loving, still laughing, still living, and yes, WE ARE BEAUTIFUL TOO!

Over the years since 2008, I have held conferences and workshop create platforms where, “The Voice of A Woman” can be heard and her dreams, visions, and aspirations can be manifest all over the world. I believe that out of the pain comes victory and women need the opportunity to share their experiences with each other to provoke growth and self-love.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been filled with various challenges, but I believe that all things work together for the good. One of the main struggles is being able to balance your life and the experiences shared by others. Your heart goes out to the women who are having some of the most difficult times of their life and you want to make it all better, but you cannot. It’s hard because you can only do so much.

Another struggle is getting people to trust that you have their best interest at hand. So many people have been hurt by people that they thought they could trust. You have to work hard to let women see and know the real you.

Please tell us about I Am Beautiful Too Ministry.
My foundation is known for ensuring that every woman recognizes her true inner beauty and God inspired purpose by looking beyond the pain. I create platforms where women can express themselves and share who they are or who they want to be. Through this dialogue, the women are encouraged and they become innovators. I am most proud of being able to offer scholarships to women in their sophomore or junior year of college (with 30 credit hours or more) for up to $1,000.

This scholarship is not for tuition, but rather expenses beyond the classroom and can include assistance for needs including but not exclusive to educational conferences, instructional programs, graduate exam application fees, or textbooks. I am most proud of this because it is in honor of my deceased parents who worked so hard to give us a good life and teach us the importance of loving God and the impact of education.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If there is one thing that I would have done differently it is to not be afraid of anything especially people who didn’t seem so welcoming. The lessons I have learned have taken me to a different place now, but meeting challenges with a smile instead of negative self-talk is something that I would have definitely done differently.
