Meet Dr. Scott Lowe of BenchMark Physical Therapy in East Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Scott Lowe.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Unlike some Healthcare providers, I didn’t have one isolated “Aha” moment which leads me to pursue the field but rather learned as I pursued educational and work experiences that the profession of Physical Therapy was a good fit for me since I feel it is the idea combination of problem-solving and personal interaction. I am always proud of these choices when I consider how the amount of time I get to spend with my patients is so much greater than is common in many realms of the medical field.

I have lived in Georgia the majority of my life, so choosing to stay local to practice and give back to the area was a natural choice. After completing Undergraduate studies in Sports Medicine at the University of Georgia and the Doctorate of Physical Therapy at The University of North Georgia my wife and I moved to Woodstock where I began my career with BenchMark Physical Therapy. Working with the company has allowed me the tremendous opportunity for growth including completion of the post-doctoral residency and subsequent Board-Certification in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. More recently I started our location in East Marietta in late 2017 and am opening another new clinic within the company in the Woodstock/Roswell Market at the end of July 2018.

One of my other natural passions which led me into this career was my enjoyment of teaching. In addition to my role in educating my patients on a daily basis, I have recently had opportunities to present educational sessions at State and National Rehab Conferences as well as Universities. I greatly enjoy the variety of individuals I meet across all backgrounds and age ranges with concerns ranging from back pain to jaw symptoms to vertigo and balance challenges.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Great question. I have been blessed with a lot of support along the way from my wife, professors, colleagues and supervisors. That being said the marathon of education alone required to get here took some continued perspective of why I chose this path.

Once I finished the educational process there is always some degree of a challenge to continue progressing oneself to avoid stagnation. Thankfully through the residency and the opportunities, I have had in leadership there has continued to be a drive to improve my ability to provide the best possible care.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
BenchMark Physical Therapy specializes in outpatient Physical Therapy for all orthopedic conditions. Some of the concerns we address that people may not realize include vertigo, balance, jaw pain, post-concussion symptoms and headaches.

We pride ourselves on the large amount of providers who have completed advanced certifications, such as board-certification specialists in orthopedics. In addition to the skills of our therapists, our office staff is committed to working with patients and the clinicians to offer evaluation availability much sooner than most providers.

What were you like growing up?
Haha, honestly similar to my personality and interests now. I have always enjoyed keeping my mind busy so I have always loved reading a wide variety of books and discussing various topics. Growing up soccer was always my sport of choice which I played for 15 years, but I enjoyed baseball and basketball as well.

My enjoyment of the outdoors was cultivated early with family camping trips and scouting activities.
