Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tremaine Afetorgbor (aka Dr. Tré).
Dr. Afetorgbor (aka Dr. Tré) is a wife, mother and licensed Pharmacist; she attributes her life to having a firm foundation and relationship with God, a loving, supportive family, and applying God’s word. One of the scriptures they stand on is, “Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesian 3:20)
Devoting six years to earn her Pharm.D. at the Xavier University of Louisiana, and thirteen years as a professional Pharmacist, Dr. Tré began realizing the deadly impact of food choices and cooking styles on one’s health. Deciding to help by applying her faith, talents, and dreams, she started a successful catering business focusing on healthy yet tasty cuisines.
After two years, she shifted her focus to create an Amazing Seasoning line: DR Flava SPICES; that are all natural, lower in sodium and contains no MSG. DR Flava SPICES takes the thinking out of cooking and a unique taste for the occasion of sautéing, grilling, baking and even to garnish popcorn. ‘My goal is to help families ‘eat to live’ with great hopes that families come back to the dinner table with amazing, delicious food!
Her journey began December 2016, at the time she only had two blends, Original Everything and Creole Delight which she gave as Christmas gifts for close family and friends. The response was overwhelming and decided to seek help to decide if this could be a viable business, shortly after January 2017, DR Flava SPICES was born. Currently, they have 8 Amazing Flavas that are unique and truly Take the Thinking Out of Cooking and they are helping busy moms, health-conscious foodies, families and new cooks create mouth-watering dishes!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Whenever you embark on a business from the ground up, there will be hurdles and mountains to climb; however, I looked at each challenge as a learning experience. I can remember printing an abundance of labels to save money and unfortunately, they were missing necessary information required. But when your given lemons you have to make lemonade, therefore I decided to use part of the label for samples!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about DR Flava SPICES LLC – what should we know?
I am the Creator/Owner and Chief Flava Specialist, I have formulated 8 unique Amazing Flavas! I wanted to create spices that would take food dishes from blah to Flava-ful! With over 6-13 herbs and spices in each bottle, there is no need to add salt, pepper. oregano, onion or garlic we have done all the work for you. The beauty of our spices is you can cook the same meal but by choosing any of our Amazing seasonings you will create a new meal! I love how DR Flava SPICES has impacted so many people, who are embarking on healthy lifestyle, busy moms, foodies, and novice., I also provide various recipes online with our free e-book of recipes and via social media.
I get super excited by our Flava Crew Foodies who share their new found love for cooking, they often say ‘wow my food was super easy to prepare and tasted so good!’ I understand that just small changes in our diet can have a tremendous effect on our health, over the years as Pharmacist seeing several patients taking medications that could potentially be avoided if we made better choices. Our mission is to get families back to the table eating a healthy delicious meal and by this decrease eating fast food.
