Meet Dreshawn Scott of The Debonair Experience in Fulton County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dreshawn Scott.

Dreshawn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born & raised in Albany, GA. Growing up, I always had a passion to make women feel beautiful & pretty. My aunt & cousin braided hair, my mom always did her hair so I always was around hair. Growing up, my mother couldn’t afford to go to the hair salon like she always wanted so she did it herself. I have seen my mom get her hair professionally done once growing up, other than that she did it. I remember growing up, I helped my mom lay her tracks for her quick weaves & after the style was complete she was a different woman, she had a different vibe, she was happy. She had four kids (me being the oldest) I vowed that I wouldn’t let her go without & I would do anything to make her & women feel beautiful. When I first started out doing hair, I was trash absolutely not a good look, but when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. I practiced & practiced, whatever it took until I got it right.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life is all about obstacles & challenges. Nothing is peaches & cream how social media makes it seem. Life is also what we make it. What I do know, With God & people around you that influence you in positive ways, people who are willing to help you that see how hard you are working, you will always have all the motivation you need. I have been to a point where I wanted to just stop, my life felt so stagnant. I was dealing with a lot of personal issues where I was just over it all I wanted to just stay in bed and lock myself away. If it had not been for God & my friends & family, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. My advice to anybody is if you feel uncomfortable at a point in your life, pray and ask God for a fresh start. Believe in him & you will receive.

Please tell us about The Debonair Experience.
My business, my baby, who I am TheDebonairexperience. Let’s start off with the definition of Debonair. deb·o·nair /ˌdebəˈner/ – (of a man) confident, stylish, and charming. I am Debonair & this is my Experience, get it! My specialty among many others is my shampoo & scalp manipulation treatment, it is what got my name out. I take pride in that being, many people during this era don’t shampoo hair anymore, people hate it. They have taken the therapy out of the salon experience. My shampoo is exactly what I call it (a treatment) I promise you everybody from your great grandmother down to your child will love my hands. I am not like others, they aren’t me & I’m not them. Often in this industry, we are matched against one another and I try to just stay out the way. When you are worried about another man’s plate is how you starve. Most people care strictly about making a quick dollar but I focus on myself & improving my craft so that my clients will always feel loved. They are spending their earned dollars on getting serviced by me, so why not go above and beyond for the women.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had the option to start over again, I don’t think I would change anything about the path of my life. My path has made me stronger & wiser than I’ve ever been. If it had not been for the people I have met along the way, whether they hurt me or not, I wouldn’t be the Boss I am today.
