Meet DVeda Ferrell of In a Blink Eyelash in Buford

Today we’d like to introduce you to DVeda Ferrell.

DVeda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a licensed cosmetologist, and I started out as a hairstylist 9 years ago in Indiana. Although I had a salon there I always had a desire to move to the Atlanta area. I moved here 4 years ago, and began working for a salon and building my business on my off days. When I left that salon and began working for myself, I realized that I needed to branch out and add other services to my menu. I researched and I took some eyelash extensions training and practiced on all my friends and family. I began by offering gift certificates to my hair clients to build my lash business, and it began to produce at a faster rate than any other service I provided. So Lashes became my main focus.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road was not smooth. In the beginning, I worked 2 jobs I worked 3 days a week at another salon and 3 days a week for myself. So I worked all the time so that I can pay my bills at home and any money I made I put back into the business.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the In a Blink Eyelash story. Tell us more about the business.
In a Blink Eyelash is an eyelash extension studio. Eyelash extensions are performed by placing a faux lash to the base of each of the client’s natural eyelashes. The results are longer fuller natural looking eyelashes. What sets me apart from others is knowledge and experience, I specialize in lash extensions. I don’t take short cuts or use inferior products on my clients to cut costs. I got into this business because I enjoy making women look and feel beautiful. That’s my goal with every client.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The beauty business is broad and flexible, the key to sustainably is to be progressive. The next big trend is microblading, a semi permanent method to shape a fill in the eyebrows.
