Today we’d like to introduce you to Dwight Ali Williams
Hi Dwight Ali, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Well, I have discovered I love to create and have been creating my whole life. I also love to bring joy because bring joy gives me joy. Over the years I have created magical moments and brought joy in a number of ways but prior to moving to Atlanta Metro I created and brought joy through Theater. I produced a number of original off off and off Broadway productions including Die Laughing by Marq Overton and Love Happened by Chance by Twana Law[er which I also wrote and produced the music for. After moving to Atlanta I found my self working full-time as a hospitality manager at a high end law firm which I would have never imagine would cultivate my talents even more. I am now an Event Producer and have helped produced 300 person plus holiday parties all the way down to an intimate site down dinner for 4 in an conference room office setting. My new found talent has lead to work with Occasional Occasions by Carlton Catering as well as Hutchinson Design Group in which I did the ABC Annual Spirit of the Heart Awards at The Whitley Buckhead. I have also done a number of personal events for clients small and large. One thing I love about where I am in floral design is that I am self taught I try to put love into each project. I like to say Art is at the Heart of each floral design or event.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Well the biggest struggle is really trying to gain new and more regular clients for me seeing as I am new to the Atlanta market in this field and not well know. Plus, I started in a non-traditional way seeing as I started learning and creating events primarily for my day job. I would also say trusting my instincts when creating is very important and not to second guess
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create with the customer in mind. I like making magic happen. I try to think of the things others don’t. The fact that I have produced theater and a little bit of film and tv over my life’s journey helps me to know the importance of story telling and when I create and event I try to tell a story from start to finish or at least if you are looking at my set table or floral design you know only see something you feel something. Most events you may only spend only a hour or two at and you don’t generally take away anything but memories and I want those memories to be ones you will be talking about for years to come.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Well seeing as I still have a day job as of now that keeps me quit busy all the events I do outside of that is a risk I suppose putting together a perfectly tight schedule to allow me to do all I do. Overall to me what is life without risks. I move from LA area to NYC to act and produce theater and I did it. I moved to the ATL with the same intent but found myself creating in new ways through floral arranging and event producing.
