Thanks for sharing your story with us Ebony. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I moved from Chicago a few years ago to open a restaurant. Relocating was extremely hard considering I was leaving my other company and I’m also really close to my family who inspires me daily. My friend Marquionna would call me daily to give me advise on finding a location daily. I struggled finding a location.
All the locations I visited none of them felt right. I changed my focus and refocused on growing my company in Chicago. Years later, my friend Andrea and I found the location in college park. I instantly knew this was the location for Nouveau and quickly moved on making this location our new home. It was everything I prayed for.
Has it been a smooth road?
I can honestly say the road was pretty smooth which means my church and family did a lot of praying. Outside of your basic trial and error, it all worked out. I honestly had a great team, hiring a consultant was one of the best things I could’ve done. Andrea and I worked closely with the consultant and the entire build-out team which was pretty smooth. My brother helped create culture. My sister Toya and Marquionna would fly down to help out. I struggled with understanding the different needs and shifting focus without compromising my brand.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Nouveau Bar& Grill story. Tell us more about the business.
Nouveau focus on value, value goes beyond price. Providing exceptional food, customer service and atmosphere are prerequisites to having a successful restaurant. Creating premium drinks and dishes with our secret recipes that makes us stand out which is more of an art that we’re trying to perfect daily. I am most proud of having multiple companies that give back. I made a commitment years ago to make giving back a priority, I look at giving back differently. Giving back is not only about making a donation it’s more so about making a difference in your community.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The restaurant food trends are shifting to having more Vegetarian and Vegan Options. Creating healthier dishes. Having more Eco-Friendly Packaging.
