Meet Ebony Hill of Leigh’s Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Hill.

Ebony, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Like many women, my love for fashion started as a kid however, I never thought it was something I could really make a living on. I grew up in Gordon, GA (Wilkinson County) where there is only one elementary, middle and high school. It’s a very small town. I obtained my high school diploma from Wilkinson County High School and my bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Valdosta State University.

I coasted through my 20’s working for an insurance company and my life was great. At the age of 30, I became pregnant with my first child and unfortunately at 32 weeks, she transitioned. Her transition brought to the forefront that it all can be taken away so quickly. At that point, I knew I had to act on my deepest desires which was working for myself. The loss of my child birthed a new level of ambition, drive and focus within. My biggest loss in my life at that time literally birthed Leigh’s Boutique.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some areas have been easy, while others have been extremely challenging. The biggest challenge I have faced is obtaining financing. We all know that redlining is something African American’s have faced for years. Over the years, black owned businesses have had to work twice as hard to sustain and stay afloat without any help. This is nothing new. Like most, I have found a way to work through it.

As you know, we’re big fans of Leigh’s Boutique. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Leigh’s Boutique is an online women’s boutique for standard and plus-size women. I was encouraged to start my own business after the loss of my daughter, Kenleigh. My goal is to lift all women but particularly black women. I want to embed in women that while life can be challenging, it is the life in us that we need to keep moving. I want to inspire women to DREAM big & motivate them to work hard so that all of their dreams can come true!

When customers receive their orders from Leigh’s Boutique, I hope that it gives them a boost of confidence that is UNMATCHED! There are plenty of boutiques with clothes for sale, but what separates Leigh’s Boutique from the rest is simply me. I, Ebony Hill, am the separation. I follow through with giving you a product and service that will boost your confidence and THIS is something everyone needs.

What does success mean to you?
I really view and define success differently depending on which facets of my life I’m viewing. One way I define success is by accomplishing a goal that I have set for myself. I also define success as doing better than I did the day before. The big wins are important, but I really try to celebrate my small wins. It keeps me grounded and humble.
