Meet Ed Szczesniak of Georgian Landscape Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ed Szczesniak.

Ed, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I went back to school nights – just for fun – as I’ve always enjoyed landscaping as a hobby and get bored watching TV. My wife thought I was nuts as I have two undergrads and an MBA – and worked as a global consultant for companies like IBM, Deloitte Consulting, Verity Group etc for over 27 years.

After 18 months of horticulture classes, my teachers suggested that I was really good at landscape design, and encouraged me to open a design studio. I did so 16+ years ago – and love it. It’s a great 2nd career, the company has grown exponentially, and we’ve won numerous local, regional and national awards, including Best of Houzz 5x.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes – it’s been a pretty smooth ride, as I love what I do, have had great crews, and my expectations were never as grandiose as they’ve turned out.

Georgian Landscape Design – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We basically do everything you can think of outside of the home – landscape, hardscape, irrigation systems, water features, stone patios, stone benches, fireplaces, firepits, pergolas, decks, landscape lighting, waterfalls, etc. If it’s outside of the home we do it.

We specialize in being incredibly easy to work with, and dedicated to creating the “WOW’ factor for our clients. From the first meeting to the last day of a project, either myself, my partner, or one of our management team is on site the entire time – so that the client has a constant point of contact with someone who is “in the know” and can answer questions and resolve issues on the spot.

We’ve received hundreds of Positive Reviews from our clients – and most of our work is based on referrals. We’ve had clients that have used us multiple times for new aspects to their projects, and all of this is because we care – from beginning to end.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Having built a team that has the same values, vision, and dedication to the client as I have. I’ve had several folks who came to work with me, who did not share my values – and they did not last long. Those who stay – some for over 14 years know what I expect – because they expect the same thing – and are proud of what we do – proud of the end result – and feel good about what they contribute to our overall success.

My partner, Jeremy Talboy – President – North Georgia Landscape Management has become not only a great protege – but a great partner and friend – and together we have built a great company.
