Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Raymond AKA Mr. Transaction Engineer.
Eddie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in East Atlanta, GA raised by a single mother. Due to the lack of guidance, I began hanging out with the wrong people and started getting in a lot of trouble. I found myself incarcerated at the age of 22 for trafficking cocaine. I was sentenced to ten years but since it was a non-violent charge, I had to do 41 months in the state penitentiary and the rest on parole. During my incarceration my mother started sending me information about real estate. My mother always had a passion for real estate.
During that time, I was reading everything I could get my hands on during my incarceration. Then I came across a life-changing book called ” Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki. That book really turned the light bulb on for me. I knew I had to make a change in my life. I made a decision to never put myself or my three kids in that situation again. I was released from prison and I had a couple of warehouse jobs just trying to make ends meet for about a year. My mother paid 5k for us to attend a real estate seminar called Millionaire maker.
At that time, I was working at a warehouse driving forklifts. I asked my boss could I take three days off to attend the seminar. My boss told me I couldn’t have the days off. I had a tough decision to make. Stay at this dead-end job and struggle or walk out on faith and start my new journey as a real estate entrepreneur. I decided to quit my job and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. By the time my mom and I went to the seminar I had a couple of deals in the pipeline. They called me on the stage so we can call one of my leads. The universe clearly was moving me in the right direction. Before I left that 5-day seminar I had a property under contract that I closed on within 30 days making $3000.00 and cash flow of $300.00 a month. Within 45 days from leaving the seminar, I wholesaled a property and make $15,000.00 off a $300.00 dollar investment and the rest is history. I’ve been a real estate entrepreneur for 14 years and I’ve been coaching students across the country for two years. It feels amazing helping people change their lives. It truly feels amazing! Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggle I had going on was getting my mindset around that you can actually make money in real estate with little or no money down. I also had to get rid of all of my old friends who were still in the streets. It was hard because that was my comfort zone but in order to make that change, I had to cut off the dead weight.
