Meet Edward Merritt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edward Merritt.

Hi Edward, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started making music as a young teen intrigued by producers such as; “Drumma boy & Zaytoven”. At the age of 15, I produced on FL Studio and didn’t know much at the time about the extras of music, but through the years I gradually caught up on the basis of music. At times I felt discouraged to do the lack of support from friends and family, but I continued to carry on, I drifted off towards the “Akai MPC”. And have also been in the music industry for some years as an independent producer but faced difficult trials and struggles due to jealousy and envy, considering almost losing my life for something so small but I’ve chosen to rise above it all no matter what my music will be heard. No money or fame can create me for who I truly am as a person!! Music is my everything.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Just a lot of jealousy, envy, hatred, and also unjustified payments due to intentionally creating financial ruin towards me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Mystical, my musicality, my artwork that I draw on daily, the way I dance, the way I speak, the way I treat myself, the way I dress, and also the way I am in general.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
To learn to love myself and also to accept myself for who I am. Love the things and people around me that loves me for me.
