Meet Elizabeth Spitdowski of Brookhaven/North Druid Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Spitdowski.

Hi Elizabeth, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve enjoyed baking my whole life, and finally took the leap to turn it into a business in the fall of 2020 after some encouragement from my husband. I had been baking lots of things as a form of stress relief from my corporate job during the pandemic, and he saw the potential for me to take the next step after sampling many, many of my creations. What began as cake pops, hot chocolate balls and gourmet cookies has expanded to macarons, custom sugar cookies, cupcakes and small cakes. I’ve created special treats for events from baby showers, birthday parties and weddings to business meetings, corporate events/parties and client gifts! Flippin’ Sweets ‘n Treats is now 5 years old and continuing to grow.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a fairly smooth road for me. I had a lot of good resources and help from tax professionals in the beginning so I was able to quickly set up the paperwork side of things. My business started off slowly as I was still working in my corporate job and steadily grew until I left the corporate world in the summer of 2024, when I switched to baking full time. The hardest part along my journey was learning to manage my time properly, especially the last 2 years where I have had a steady stream of orders in both small and large quantities. There were a lot of late nights spent decorating after my day job ended and bakery responsibilities kicked in!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in custom desserts – from decorated sugar cookies, cake pops/cakesicles and macarons to gourmet cookies and cupcakes. Everything I make is done from scratch with recipes I’ve developed and tweaked to be my own. I take pride in using quality ingredients – real butter, Belgian chocolate and premium candy elements. From simple to elaborate decorations and themes, I’ve got you covered with custom treats.
