Meet Elke and Annette Werner of Frankfurt Döner & Meats in Ball Ground

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elke and Annette Werner.

Detlev Werner is the founder of our gourmet sausage shop, Frankfurt Döner and Meats. He graduated with a Masters Degree in 1984 for meat processing in Frankfurt, Germany. We moved to the United States in 1994 and decided to settle down in the small town of Ball Ground, GA. Detlev had worked at different grocery stores in the meat departments until 2010 when he decided to open Frankfurt Doner and Meats on Main street in Ball Ground. He wanted to bring a quality sausage to the marketplace. His love of street food of Offenbach, Germany motivated him to make the Döner in a traditional style. From the best, hand-selected cuts of meats that the Döner is made from, to the authentic Persian bread made especially for his sandwiches, quality was the first priority. Over the years, as the demand has risen, so has our product selection, we now offer over 100 different flavors and styles of gourmet sausage. As well as the traditional Leberkase (Bologna), handmade premium hot dogs. And our famous smoked Pork Chops. All of our products are handmade in our store. Elke Werner, Detlev’s wife, makes all the potato salads, soups, and sauces. Annette Werner, Detlev’s daughter, has been a part of the shop since it’s opening. Frankfurt Döner and Meats is a family owned and operated business.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes, luckily its been a smooth road for us, smooth and steady growth.

Frankfurt Döner & Meats – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We make gourmet sausage, with the best cuts of meat. Never using filler meats or additives like sugar. We offer smoked and raw sausages, smoked pork chops, ground round burger patties, hot dogs, German bolognas, potato salads and the ever popular, Döner. We are proud to be a family owned operated and loved business. What sets us apart from most is our customer service and pride in what we do.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
To be able to teach my daughter and see her grow with the business.

    They’re food is delicious and always worth the trip to Ballground. This is a wonderful place to get very good and memorable eats for sure and I highly recommend giving them a try, you’ll be back often.
