Meet Emerald Luke of Enchanted Entourage by Em

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emerald Luke.

Emerald, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am from a very small town called Temple. Loretta Luke, my mom, raised me as a single parent. She always worked hard at making sure I had what I needed and showed me what true independence looked like. I have always had big dreams of owning my own business, but never thought it was in my reach. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs. Seeing them gave me the inspiration I needed to make this dream a reality. Along the way, I found myself going from one job to another, but never truly finding my niche. I have changed career paths multiple times. I went to Gordon State College and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2012. I have also worked in the retail and warehouse industry for many years. However, out of all of these jobs, they could not fulfill my desire of owning my own business. I found myself stuck, stagnant, and stale.

In 2017, I visited a long-standing mentor in my life, Coach Beasley, and he asked me, “What are you doing in life”? After I shared with him where I was at and what I was doing he and his wife gave me a white envelope that would later change the course of events. In this envelope was the money I needed to go and apply for my LLC. I had no clients, no idea what I was going to do with it, but this was the start I needed. Also, in 2017, I lost my main job. I almost lost everything I had worked for. I was still cleaning on the side and decorating here and there, but was not fully pursuing it as a career. I began working on myself internally and externally which jump started my weight loss path. I prayed that God would reveal to me his plan. A door was opened. My friend, Brittany Davis, saw a post on Instagram from a company looking for someone to clean their salon. She immediately thought of me. Monet Bearden, owner of TravelinShears HairBar in Atlanta became my first client. I later was led to Dominique, owner of HABD. She introduced me to Tunisha Brown. Tunisha, owner of Impact Magazine encouraged me in my endeavours and represented what a true entrepreneur looks like. From there, doors began to open left and right and I was able to utilize my LLC; Enchanted Entourage by Em, LLC. What started as just cleaning salons, I opened up myself to then include homes, Airbnb’s, recording studios, and offices. I get to include my decorating abilities to each of these establishments per request. The companies i serve include; TravelinShears HairBar, HABD The Hair Care Experience, Tu La 2 Nail Salon and Company, Bleutique Dry Bar, Salon One Thirty Three, and VividRich HQ.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. The main struggle that I have endured is finding loyal employees to work for me and represent my company well. Not everyone cleans the same, not everyone is a true hustler such as myself. I’ve learned that every hustle has a hassle and I will find a way to create a good reputation for my company and myself. As my mother taught me, pray for what you want God to reveal to you and as long as I’m patient and persistent, I know that help will come my way. I am a true believer of speaking things into existence.

Enchanted Entourage by Em – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I own a cleaning service and I also decorate and coordinate events. I specialize in cleaning and add my special touch to venues with personalized flower arrangements and such. My most proud moment from my company is starting at zero and reaching beyond to create a heavy platform of business. I am extremely personable with all of the customers that I clean for. I do my best to get to know the owners and add additional touches to their suites. I’m always giving back to the people who take care of me. Especially when the companies refer me to another company, I give a discount off my services and make sure to take the time to personally write thank you cards to all of my clients, which most companies don’t do that. Trustworthiness is what sets me apart. To give me a key and access to a successful business and trust me to do well by that business says a lot in how they perceive me and my company.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Before my business took off, my vision for my company was to have celebrity clientele as an employer. My proudest moment of my career thus far was seeing my vision become a reality by building a work relationship with high end clientele.
