Meet Emily Rose Davis of Emily Rose Coiffure and Meraki Haircare in Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Rose Davis.

Emily Rose, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always had a passion for color. I loved painting and drawing. When I turned 18, I moved to Atlanta and started apprenticing at a hair salon. I then began doing hair as a senior stylist and also traveling all over the country to teach Balayage and highlighting methods. After 4 years of doing hair, I opened my hair salon Emily Rose Coiffure. I specialize in Balayage and French haircutting. I am always pushing myself to learn new techniques and be on the cutting edge of what’s new with haircutting and hair color.

While working with my clients, I noticed a need for a haircare line specific towards my clients’ needs. I began working with a chemist to further educate myself on products and their ingredients. I then decided to start my own vegan, “cruelty-free”, product line called Meraki. (Www.lovemeraki.com) I love Atlanta because it is the city that helped me build my brand! I am so honored to be featured!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There has certainly been some bumps in the road. I made the choice to skip college and straight to working 80 hours a week while apprenticing. I paid my dues by assisting talented people and training under the best, which is very exhausting at times. I have sacrificed a lot to hone my craft. Since opening my business, I have had a hard time with the business side (numbers, spreadsheets, invoices, and other scary objects) a disadvantage of a creative’s brain. Starting Meraki has been a great learning experience for me. I have made mistakes with orders and that has cost me big time. I now am very meticulous about every order I make and document I read.

My entire family, for always believing in me. My previous employers, from which I learned a great deal, what to do and also what not to do. Haha, My fiancé Richard, for being my biggest cheerleader.
