Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Greene.
Hi Emma, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started showing an interest in photography when I was 16. That Christmas, my mom surprised me with my first camera. I started off just taking photos of my friends and posting them on social media for fun. People than started asking me to take photos of them and paying me to do so. I quickly realized that this hobby of mine was more than just a hobby-it was a passion. I knew that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. My wonderful grandparents bought me a new and upgraded camera as my graduation gift and that completed elevated my business. I just recently turned 21, and four months ago I was able to quit my 9-5 job to pursue this dream of mine. I now do photography full time and I have never been happier. I have learned so much, had wonderful mentores, taught myself, and had loads of support to get me to where am I today and I am forever grateful to my family, friends, mentors, and my amazing clients for trusting me to capture their special moments. I want to encourage everyone to follow their dreams and do what makes them happy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say yes and no. I have had a lot of help, but I have also had to teach myself and do a lot by myself as well. I struggle with confidence in myself and my work a lot but I have to remind myself that photography is such a versatile field and believe in my art. Photography equipment is also very expensive and can make things difficult when trying to build your business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a photographer. I specialize in weddings, senior portraits, family portraits, and events. I am most proud of the fact that I’m 21 years old running my own business and following my dreams. I’m proud of myself for not settling for a job I was not happy with and taking the risk to go full-time with my business. I believe what sets me apart from other photographers is my relationship with my clients. I truly try to get to know each of my clients and a lot of them I have became friends with. I work towards giving my clients an experience rather than just a service.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Making my family proud and taking after my grandpa who was a business owner himself. What also matters most to me is making sure my clients are 100% happy with their photos and experience with me.
