Meet Emma Pitts of PullSpark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Pitts.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Emma. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve spent more than a decade in the world of live events and production. I worked local radio in Louisville, Kentucky as a new college graduate, and then I moved into the residential construction space where I opened 4 locations for an event-based franchise. In the midst of all that hustle, I somehow found time to meet my favorite human – my husband – and he was interesting enough to make me want to move to his hometown: Atlanta. I’ve never looked back.

I eventually found myself working for North Point Ministries as their Online Streaming Producer. My knowledge and skill grew in spades and I learned a ton about production, seeing that my boss was THE production guru in Atlanta. My four years on staff there count as the best job I’ve ever had. Except for when I became boss. 😉 I saw a growing need in the film and event space for a Producer-led company rather than the many (albeit wonderful) Directors in charge. And that’s how PullSpark was born.

Creating fully-immersive experiences that allow an audience to emotionally connect with a brand is what gets me out of bed everyday. I love it.

Has it been a smooth road?
This hasn’t been an easy ride, to say the least. I think my biggest struggle is that I’m not an expert at the technical stuff. I understand a good portion, but it’s nowhere near my sweet spot. My expertise is in hearing what our partners want to accomplish and connecting that to the story arc so that they end up with a creative, compelling experience that ultimately fulfills and (hopefully) exceeds their goals.

To do this, I have to lead directors, gaffers, audio engineers and a cast of others to that vision, and since I’m not a technician myself, I have to communicate well.

Miscommunication can mean a different sound effect, color palette or score, which ultimately affects the excellence of the product. I’m still learning how to be a better communicator of vision so that technicians not only understand but feel bought in.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Become the thing that people are still talking about. <— That’s what our clients are seeking. They want to be the topic of all the chatter, the memory-makers, the ones who make their audience say, “I couldn’t look away.” That’s what we help people do. We lead the rebellion against ordinary. At PullSpark, we create fully immersive experiences that connect your audience to your brand in emotive ways. We do this through events, films and campaigns.

One of the things I’m most proud of is a campaign we created for The Home Depot Foundation called, #ChooseToServe. It’s about motivating people to join The Home Depot Foundation by choosing to serve those who have served us all, our veterans. This campaign has been featured on College Gameday and through Home Depot Corporate. They will be using the campaign again this fall.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love Atlanta. My husband and I talked about moving back to Kentucky to be near my family, but once I got to know this city better we realized the opportunities here can’t compete with Kentucky. Not only are there big corporations and an amazing film industry, which all are good for PullSpark, the thing I love the most is the entrepreneurial heartbeat of Atlanta. There are so many of us just starting, but in Atlanta, we see that what we envision might just be possible in this city.
