Today we’d like to introduce you to Emunyah Burt.
Hi Emunyah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started with YouTube . In my teen years I found a new passion for creating short form YouTube videos (Vlog, Hair tutorials, etc…) I would film on my iPhone at the time , edit on iMovie & upload to my YouTube Channel . However , as time went on , my passion for creating started to die down but my sense of individuality didn’t . Around 2020-2021, I put a pause on creating content & I created a skincare line containing natural face mask , face oils , etc … which eventually ,was also short lived ; I took another pivot, but ironically started back where it all began , creating content. I quickly realized that , my passion for creating never went anywhere , but it just showed up in a different way . I embraced all parts of me that was there all along , which is how i ended up shifting my focus to creating loc content via Instagram & TikTok . I finally found something that felt like me ,with the support and encouragement of my Family. Once I started , I haven’t stopped . Now. With multiple brand deals ,partnerships , and followers at my forefront, everyday I’m striving to explore new opportunities to broaden my brand , while still appreciating the space that I’m in & the many stages that it took to reach this point .
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Content creation has never been a smooth road & still isn’t . Everyday you have to find new ways to stay relevant , keep up with “trends” , explore new ideas , while still staying true to yourself. While checking all of these boxes , you still want to make sure that what you’re putting out is received well by your audience , as well as brands , in order to get those partnerships and brand deals rolling in consistently, which to me is one of the most important parts .
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
For me , creating is an around the clock job . Brainstorming, editing , filming , reaching out to brands , producing ,posting, Etc… never really ends . The type of content that I specialize in is Loc content .This varies from Loc hairstyle tutorials to wash day videos ; which is what I am most known for. The dedication and time that it takes to continuously create videos for those who may or may not have locs , to either be inspired to re-create similar loc styles , to start their own locs , to invest in quality hair care + more , means the most to me. I feel so fulfilled and proud when i see that Im able to leave a positive influence on those just like me . I’m always willing to take the time to connect with my social media peers who may personally reach out for any tips & tricks , which may set me apart from others , i thinks it’s important.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned so far along my journey is that you receive what you put out . The harder you work and the more consistent you are , the greater your results will be! Even when you don’t feel like it , you have to keep pushing .
