Meet Eric Hubbard of Atlanta Ga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Hubbard

Hi Eric, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve loved music and sound for as long as I can remember, growing up in a household vibrant with musical variety. My father, mother, and older sister played music that stirred emotions and sparked contemplation in me. Observing the profound effect music had on them ignited my curiosity about its essence—how it was created, treated, and its journey from inception to listener.

This curiosity led me to pursue my first instrument, the drum set, followed by the piano and, ultimately, the saxophone. By middle school, I had developed a deep infatuation with music production, blending all these instruments together.

In high school, I cultivated habits that shaped my success as a musician. Music transformed from a mere hobby into a serious pursuit, and my dedication was recognized through awards like “Most Improved Music Student” and the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. I had multiple news appearances, competed in music competitions, and won the high school talent show while performing in my hometown of Macon, GA. These achievements required significant discipline and effort and motivated me to extend my musical journey beyond high school.

I earned a music scholarship to Bethune-Cookman University, where I majored in music recording technology. During this time, I became the president of a music entertainment organization called Livewire, led production at HBCU Records—designed specifically for Black and Brown students—and interned at the Grammy Award-winning production company, TheThirties, in Daytona Beach, FL. All the while, I served as a section leader in a band of over 300 talented musicians.

These experiences honed my production, leadership, engineering, and performance skills, deepening my passion for organizational leadership and understanding human nature. This drive led me to pursue a master’s degree in Business Administration with a specialty in Music Business through a joint program with SNHU and Berklee College of Music.

Today, I am a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur, equipped to contribute to one of the most beautiful and intricate industries imaginable.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
While my journey in music and entrepreneurship has been rewarding, it hasn’t been smooth. I believe that nothing worth pursuing comes without challenges, and it’s these humbling moments that shape our character and drive us to exceed what others see as possible.

One striking example occurred during my transition to collegiate music. I traveled for an audition at a top school, but moments before I was set to perform, my saxophone was critically damaged as it fell. The professor offered me an alternative, but none were available due to spring break. I completed the audition as best I could, but ultimately, I wasn’t accepted.

Fortunately, I adapted quickly and secured a spot in one of the best collegiate band programs in the country, receiving a scholarship that surpassed those offered by competing universities. This experience taught me resilience and reinforced my commitment to pushing through adversity as I pursue my goals.
