Meet Eric Jones of Chozen Graphics & Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Jones.

Hi Eric, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey started in 2009 when I had a spark of inspiration that led to the creation of Chozen Graphics & Design. My passion for blending art and technology drove me to build a company that could seamlessly merge those worlds. I was self-taught, and it was the unwavering support of my family and my home church, Kingdom Life Christian Fellowship, that helped fuel my growth. My passion for design evolved during my time at Georgia State University and through hands-on experiences at Wright Way PR (now Synergy Public Relations), which laid the foundation for what would become Chozen Graphics & Design.

In 2019, I made a life-changing decision to leave my job and go full-time with the business. It wasn’t just a career move; it was an act of faith. I trusted that God had a plan for me, and I took the leap. That leap opened new doors, including a role with Apple in California, which gave me invaluable insights that I still carry with me today. Over the years, I’ve faced my share of challenges, but my faith and determination have kept me grounded and helped me grow Chozen Graphics into a full-service agency.

Today, Chozen Graphics & Design is recognized for innovative designs and exceptional service. We’ve had the privilege of working with major clients like Google, Amazon, AT&T Rising Future Makers, and Grammy-nominated/award-winning artists. Our work has been featured on platforms like Lifetime Movies and at events such as Essence Fest. My journey has been anything but ordinary, but it’s the combination of hard work, passion, faith, and an unyielding drive to learn that has brought me to where I am today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely not been smooth. Entrepreneurship is filled with its fair share of challenges, but each struggle has been a learning experience. While I had clients, adding new clients to keep me afloat financially was always a challenge in the beginning. I had to build trust and reputation from the ground up, often juggling multiple roles and responsibilities to keep the business moving forward. There were also moments of self-doubt, especially when things didn’t go as planned. The uncertainty of entrepreneurship can be overwhelming at times, but I always trusted that I was on the right path.

Another ongoing challenge has been finding the right balance between work and personal life. Growing a business demands a lot of time and energy, and it’s been an adjustment. Additionally, staying ahead of industry trends, particularly with the rise of AI, while maintaining a high standard of work has been a constant pressure. Adapting to AI tools while still ensuring a personal touch and creativity in my designs has been something I’ve had to navigate carefully. But through it all, my faith, determination, and commitment to learning have kept me pushing forward.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk-taking is a natural part of entrepreneurship, but for me, it’s about taking calculated risks that align with my values and vision. My biggest risks was leaving my job in 2019 to focus on Chozen Graphics & Design full-time. It came down to a fast decision. I was offered a role with Apple on a Tuesday, and by Wednesday, I had made the decision to leave my job. My last day of work was that Thursday, and I was flying out to California on Sunday. I knew Apple was a temporary role, but it was a great opportunity. The process was extremely quick, and it felt like a huge leap both financially and emotionally, but it paid off in growth for both the business and myself.

Another risk was expanding into experiential design, which required a significant investment of time and resources. But it’s been rewarding to offer something unique to my clients and push the boundaries of what we do.

I see risk as an opportunity for growth. While the outcome isn’t always guaranteed, I focus on learning from the process and adapting as needed. This mindset has helped me navigate risks and continue moving forward.
