Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica R. Jones, M.D.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Jones. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician who has mastered the Art of Transition. I was one of a small group of high school students who was allowed to take college classes from Georgia Perimeter–which was later taken over by Georgia State University. My intelligence and ability to focus propelled me through college and medical school. A proud graduate of Meharry Medical College, I truly enjoy writing. Thus far, I have written and published three books. After working locally for a large HMO for several years in Atlanta and spending time as a traveling physician, I am now working as a telemedicine physician. In my spare time, I share entrepreneurship and business experiences as a host of The Art of Transition Podcast–which is available on all major podcast platforms.
Has it been a smooth road?
One of the biggest struggles was financing my medical education. I made a huge bet on myself by taking out over a quarter million dollars in loans over four years. To this day, my student loans are massive. I am hoping that the government will step in and help those who have sacrificed so much to be able to fulfill our dreams of working in the medical field.
Please tell us about The Art of Transition Podcast.
The Art of Transition Podcast is a recording that highlights innovators, entrepreneurs, business people, and others who are currently working on influencing the landscape of the current business world in their respective industries. I am most proud of the positive influence that these interviews are having on the community. Listening to The Art of Transition Podcast is guaranteed to give one insight to a person or career realm that they may have otherwise overlooked.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is the perfect city to start a podcast, write and publish a book, practice medicine, and invest in real estate; all of which I have done here. If someone were starting out, I would definitely recommend Atlanta–a city that is full of creatives and entrepreneurs. There is typically some type of networking event being held a few times a week in Atlanta. The city is bustling and bursting at the seams with brilliant individuals.
