Meet Evolve ATL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evolve ATL. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Evolve was founded by Asia Lee. During her collegiate career at Georgia State University, she joined a dance organization and unknowingly crossed paths with the future members of Evolve. Already knowing Nya Brown from middle school, Asia met Liana Randolph, Bailey Jordan, DaVena Presha, and Brianna Bailey while in the dance organization, and we all ultimately formed a bond that could not be denied. After Asia graduated, She knew this could not be the end of her dance journey. Therefore, she called upon these refreshing, enthused, and outstanding artists she was blessed to have met. Evolve’s first meeting was in October 2021, and Evolve was revealed to the world in February 2022. To fulfill our mission statement, Evolve assembled the talents of our current media team which consists of Chase DaVinci, Marcus Broderick, Austin Burke, and Sydnei Berry.

Evolve’s mission is to provide a platform that inspires developing artists to pursue their passions regardless of skill level. Evolve promotes the importance of the journey an artist must take to reach their full potential, therefore promoting experimentation, originality, and reflection. While many watch our transformation in dance artistry, Evolve will provide imaginative content while extending the familial bond we share with each other to our audience. We move. We Evolve.

Since our premiere, Evolve has hosted several dance classes of differing genres, performed live for the Georgia Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America, has collaborated with other collectives through live performances, and has released innovative visuals.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As a group of ambitious individuals, the members of Evolve all live schedule demanding lives. Subsequently, one of the challenges is coordinating schedules for Evolve matters. Because this collective is important to us all, we make sacrifices to contribute to the efficiency and well-being of the group. Evolve is a family. When difficulties arise, we band together to face whatever adversities are before us, whether internal or external. Dance can be a physically and mentally taxing art form, however we push ourselves beyond our limits to evolve. So the long and late rehearsals, the impromptu choreo sessions, and the hours of planning and organizing are all rewarding in the end. So though the road is not always smooth, we don’t plan on pumping the brakes any time soon.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a dance collective composed of experienced performers, choreographers, and class instructors. We host dance classes that are open to all skill levels and foster an environment for growth. We also release charming and inventive visuals that showcase us as emerging artists alongside us as our most authentic selves. We seek to create a community where people can learn from one another and where people feel seen and valued.

We are most proud of this collective accomplishing everything it intended on achieving when created. People leave our classes feeling better than when they walked in. We have not shied away from opportunities of personal artistic development. We have maintained and even strengthened our familial bond with each other, and we have actively extended that bond to others.

What sets Evolve apart from others is our genuine camaraderie. We truly love each other. People take notice of our vitality and become intrigued. Some even wish to take part. We pour love and care into everything we do, including our dance classes. In the city, dance classes can feel competitive and intimidating. This discourages people from even attempting the art form. Evolve hosts classes that cater to the individual. We break down the movements, answer questions, and truly connect with each person who walks through the door.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to us is that we continue to build a community where effort is celebrated and individuality is championed. Without these spaces, artists’ growth would be stunted, and masterpieces couldn’t be created. We are where we are today because we all had at least one person who believed in us and our dreams. We want to be that “one person” for someone else.
