Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Njenga.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
We usually hear “your voice matters” but how can one find their voice before projecting it? I found mine through writing, and it has been a part of my life for a while now. I recall being about eight years old in church with my Bible and journal making sure I capture all the advice being given at the moment. I grew a passion for writing and began to realize that is how I express myself. Writing is art because you capture words and put together a story that can benefit someone else. Another reason as to why I began journaling was because I wanted to see the spiritual, emotional, mental, physical and financial growth in my life. It was/is a way to examine myself and check off the visions and goals I have for myself. My collection of journals has piled up until I have lost count. For example, I have journals where I write to God and amazingly enough, He responds to me.
Please tell us about your art.
My artwork includes writing (blogging), making websites, doing editings, and etc.
I am a faith-based blogger, a faith-based vlogger; I am also an author to my new book called, “God’s Heartbeat: Learning to Walk at the Rhythm of His Heartbeat” releasing on May 20th. It is a book talking about being in the will of God and following His very instructions in which He gives us. I give brief testimonies on how I came to know Christ and though not perfect, the things I learned and am still learning on this walk of faith.
The message behind all my work is Faith (no pun intended). I want people to see that you can be old or young and still have fun living for God. Faith is the foundation when it comes to a relationship with Jesus. In everything you do, you must believe for the best. I want people to see from the positive side rather than the negative. The same energy you can use to be negative is the same energy you can use to be positive. Even better, you get better results and peace from believing the best report, which is God’s report.
In all I do, I use the verse Colossians 3:23 (NKJV), “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”
My work is sincere, genuine and I make sure I don’t follow the trend but rather be led by the Spirit of God in what I do, say and think so it can be more of an impact.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Whatever you put your mind to, you can achieve it. Even better, when you do your part, I am a witness that the Lord will provide.
Consistency is something that will take you a long way as well. The one thing that drives me is, “Make sure you are in love with the art you create before someone else falls in love with it.” If you are doing things to make money or to impress other people, you won’t get to where you want to go. Create even when you get no likes, no applause or no attention. Build your brand and set the foundation. When the foundation is set, begin to now work even harder. It won’t come overnight so do not be discouraged. Every dime you get counts so make sure you are saving and investing in yourself.
