Today we’d like to introduce you to Fashun Sean Rivers.
Fashun, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out as a musician. I was in the music industry for over 13 years as an artist and producer where I’ve worked with likes of Teddy Riley To Ralph Tresvant. I’ve had music I’ve produced featured on countless shows, for example, MTV’s My Super Sweet 16.
In 2015, my brother who has been in the tech space for quite some time had introduced me to the business and tech realm of music to where I created my digital distribution platform KDR Music Group where I later transitioned some of my catalogs to Sony Orchard.
By 2017-18 I created my second company KDRMG an extension of KDR Music Group which stood for KDR Media Group. And due to my relationships, I began to position my company in a space to where we are recommended to many of the top Atlanta events to handle their recap content.
Now not only do KDRMG manage event recap coverage, we also do consulting for corporations, film sizzle reels for tv pilots, but also produce commercials for clients.
Some of our clients we have worked with are TechSquare Labs (Dr. Paul Judge), Karen King (Love & Hip Hop Atlanta) Debra Antney (Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta) Porsha Williams (RHOA) Tanya Sams (RHOA) and Shamea Morton (RHOA)
Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing is ever smooth. Atlanta is a very competitive city. When you are in a space where creativity is abundant, and everyone migrates to this incredible city every day. People can begin to attempt to imitate your business identity to attempt to duplicate similar success. So we strive on innovation in what we create for our clients.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the KDRMG story. Tell us more about the business.
KDRMG we specialize in a variety of services from consulting to marketing, media, endorsements,
We really got known for the recap content from Porsha Williams baby Gender Reveal for BravoTv RHOA. Our photos and videos were featured on numerous blog sites, and even Porsha own social media accounts to where other media companies cropped our logos out and pretended as if they were the media that captured the content. We are also the media partners for TechSquare Labs bi-annual Atlanta Startup Battle.
Between Porshas baby Gender Reveal and Atlanta Startup Battle those two moments were what our company was mostly proud of because that’s when we knew that we were on the map and a company to be taken seriously. People from Ryan & TK who own The Gathering Spot, to Kasim Reed, attend the Startup Battle, and when you hear everyone in attendance cheering at the introduction video we produced for the show, it’s an exciting feeling.
If you go to TechSquare Labs official website home page, we produced that as well. We are currently producing commercials in collaboration with SocialNative for the Simon Malls in the state of Georgia.
We believe what sets us apart is that we don’t just specialize in one thing. Media is just one facet of what we are good at. We’ve closed over a half a million in endorsements for influencers in the 1st quarter of 2019 alone. We are currently working with a celebrity client to develop the next phase in music distribution.
Everything we do we are passionate about to make sure that the results are above and beyond what our clients expect. We also utilize the innovation of technology to make sure we are ahead of the curve to stay ahead of the game.
Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years? Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
In the next 5-10 years, we see this industry becoming heavily popular with companies like ourselves because of how technology seems to make everything more convenient, cost-efficient, but yet effective.
Social media has been one of our strongest suits, but as the social media power, players learn how to adjust the algorithms to control the ecosystem of influencers certain aspects of our services will have to adjust to that current state of technology.
Everyone is learning how to do everything on their own. And photo/video content just like music is being easier to produce at home.
So what we see eventually people will be able to produce their own movies with cinema quality at the convenience of their own home so how could charge corporate prices to do media content when we will be able to sub-contract to a freelancer for low cost?
People will be able to market themselves it’s just an industry for so now because the baby boomers and early millennials aren’t as efficient as Gen Z and younger millennials with technology yet.
