Meet Fidel Woods of Woody’s Jump n Play in McDonough

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fidel Woods.

Fidel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
People that I come across have asked me how the idea of Woody’s Jump n Play came to pass. When I attended college at Jackson State University in Mississippi on a full basketball scholarship, I majored in Business Management. I have always wanted to start and own my own business. At that time, I wasn’t sure what route I was going to take. After I graduated, I turned down a few options to play professional basketball overseas since I had started a family. After having and attending many birthday parties with my children and their friends at various venues, the idea hit me! I saw that I could start my own business catering to kids by doing things a little differently and better.

Has it been a smooth road?
I attended various business classes, sought counseling and advice from influential business owners and business consultants. I went to seminars and did my due diligence for starting a business. Unfortunately, during that time, the market was crashing and banks were not giving out many loans to start-up companies. However, I was determined. I believed in my business plan along with my faith in God. Woody’s Jump n Play opened its doors in McDonough GA, April 2009.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Woody’s Jump n Play story. Tell us more about the business.
Woody’s Jump n Play specializes in inflatable bouncy houses and children’s birthday parties. We host all-inclusive parties for children at very competitive prices; if not cheaper than similar businesses. Parents have found that having parties at Woody’s is less expensive and involves less clean up and hassle than having parties for their children at home.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I am not sure where the industry is headed at this moment in time. However, Woody’s is already set up to franchise out. As we grow, I have plans to expand in my current location and add another activity that will cater from toddlers to grown-ups. Our ultimate goal is to continue to give back to the community, schools, churches, hosting spirit nights and to work with various organizations for good causes. Woody’s Jump n Play has hosted various vendors that have put on Science and Music classes for youngsters throughout the years. In the near future, I’m planning to plant other locations in various communities in the Metro Atlanta area and eventually throughout the county.
