Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Vosmeier.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jamie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I received my degree in elementary education from Ball State University. My intention after college was to be a theatre education teacher. Instead, I found work at the vocational center after college and considered returning to school to be a social worker. After starting a family, I realized that going back to school was not feasible. I ended up working in telecommunications and quickly realized that I did not want to work in a corporate America type of job, and accepted a position at Broadway Across America in Indianapolis. While at Broadway Across America, I met several people from the Fox Theatre in Atlanta over the years at business conference and various events. One day, they reached out and asked me to interview for an available position. In January 2006, I began my journey at the Fox Theatre in their group sales division. In 2012, I accepted the Director of Ticketing position and oversaw ticketing and sales and operations in addition to group sale efforts. I was promoted in 2013 and took over marketing and public relations for the venue and the shows. I have been fortunate in my journey at the Fox Theatre to work with all the departments of the venue in one way or another.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m lucky to say that it has been a smooth road in being a part of the Fox Theatre’s journey. The Fox Theatre environment has allowed me an enormous amount of creative freedom, as well as the ability to utilize skills I’ve acquired in my life. It is an awesome and supportive environment and I have found that it has shaped the person I am for the better – which includes me being the best father I can be.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fox Theatre – what should we know?
At the Fox Theatre, I oversee all departments that generate revenue that do not have a food component. Atlanta’s Fox Theatre is a historic venue known for live entertainment ranging from rock concerts to Broadway spectaculars to comedy shows. This is a venue beloved by so many people – audience and promoters alike. To be part of such an iconic brand and have a part in the life of this beloved theatre, is something I appreciate and am grateful for each day. What sets us apart, is that we are a historic venue that takes pride in our history but recognizes the future and staying relevant. An example of how the Fox Theatre remains a strong competitor in a concentrated entertainment city is the opening of the Marquee Club, a premium lounge, as well as hiring industry experts that will curate the best lineup of entertainment.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I’m fortunate that I adapt well to change, which is a key to maintaining on a smooth road. Being adaptable and resilient is important in overcoming obstacles and I encourage everyone to face challenges with the power to accept change.
