Today we’d like to introduce you to Fred Mcgill
Hi Fred, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Bray Electrical works with homeowners, builders, property managers and commercial office buildings to provide comprehensive electrical services such as electrical repairs, lighting and fixture installation, generators, EV chargers and more. Bray Electrical was founded in 2004 by Master Electrician Michelle Bray. In 2024, Fred McGill bought a majority interest in the business, with plans to expand into the north Atlanta suburbs.
With federal and state investments in clean energy, Fred is betting on demand from homeowners and builders for green energy that relies on solar, electric charging stations and more modern electrical panels. The company is based in Decatur but also has offices in Dunwoody. The business employs nearly 20 electricians and serves most of the metro area.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Fred acquired an ownership interest in the business via an SBA loan. Obtaining an SBA loan can be very difficult and requires extensive paperwork and verifiable assets.

We provide residential electrical services, primarily to homeowners but we also do commercial projects as well. Some of our most common jobs include new LED lighting installation, electric vehicle chargers, upgrading electrical panels, troubleshooting wiring or breakers, remodelling work, generators and new construction.

Being based in Decatur gives us the ability to work at a vast array of properties – from 100 year old bungalows with older wiring, to large, high end new construction homes and everything in between. We get to serve a diverse population with unique properties and help our customers maintain safety in the home. We love working in older homes Oakhurst and Inman Park but also perform work in new apartments and condos in Decatur and Midtown.
