Today we’d like to introduce you to Fred Morris.
Hi Fred, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I spent my early years in Los Angeles CA. My journey started in 1983. After 12 years, my mother and I moved to Atlanta GA. I attended Dunwoody High School, and matriculated through Clark Atlanta University. I was in the marching band in college, and we had the honor of staring in the movie DrumLine. While on set, I looked around at all the cameras, and decided that I wanted to pursue a degree in Mass Communications. I’ve always had a passion for videography, photography, and video editing, and knew I wanted to dedicate my life to this.
But photography has always been my passion.
As I got older, I started realizing how beautiful this world is. From the people, places, nature, architecture, culture, etc…And I realized that capturing images, and telling stories through my lens was a strength of mine.
Once I started traveling in 2014, while backpacking through Europe, it really opened my eyes to exploring, and capturing the extraordinary world we are privileged to live in.
This world is so big, and I’m just so thankful to be here.
I really try to cherish the small things in life & take advantage of the opportunities I’ve been given.
I noticed that my specialty is photographic story telling. The ability to convey feelings, and emotions without saying a single word.
My love for making pictures began in Los Angeles, CA when I was about 6 years old.
As time followed, I pursued my dreams, and established Fred Morris Photo, based in Atlanta, GA in 2014.
Over the years I have had the honor of capturing some of the most iconic places in the world, from Machu Picchu, Peru, The Golden Gate Bridge, Shanghai, China, Niagara Falls, Death Valley National Park, Western Europe, and Asia. God has been so good to me, and I take nothing for granted.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Sometimes I was not believing in myself & others could see so much more success in me, that I could not. But I prayed, and God has always led my way. At times you can be your own worst enemy, and you have to get out of your own way.
I also realized that I have one life to live, so I need to live it the best way possible. By staying positive, no matter what. Also having no fear.
We all die one day, so what we do here in this short amount of time is very special.
I use to compare myself to other photographers, but I learned that comparison is the thief of joy. You have to be true to yourself, and do what feels natural to you.
In life, we all need a support system. People that speak life into you, and really root for you.
I had been in a dark spot for a while, but I recently met my wife, and she has really changed my life for the better. I am so thankful. She really believes in me and everything I do. Also, my mother, and father have been such a positive influence for me. That’s what I mean when I say, you need to have a strong support system.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
A photographer whose portfolio stretches from emotional wedding days, to remote corners of the globe, from corporate boardrooms, to grassroots movements, I approach every project with the same intention: to tell stories that matter. My camera has witnessed love in its purest form, injustice in its rawest reality, and nature in its wildest honesty. Whether capturing a portrait, documenting community, or shaping narratives through film, and editing, I do my best to craft visuals that feel lived-in, human, and unmistakably real. For me, it’s never about the shot, it’s about honoring the story behind it.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I have 4 children. Engaged to be married April 2026. My parents mean the world to me. My favorite place to visit is El Matador Beach in Southern California. My wife is the love of my life.
