Today we’d like to introduce you to Williams F. Martinez.
Williams Martinez is an enterprising Venezuelan who came to Atlanta in 2015 in search of a better quality of life for his family. He has a International Trade degree, which he practiced in Venezuela for more than ten years, but his passion was always different. That is why he took several courses such as salsa casino instructor, Latin percussion, saxophone, voice-over, and even chef. He loves sports and he also has a PT certification. Currently he works as a PE teacher at a school in Roswell, GA, as well as owning a small Venezuelan catering and delivery food business named Fusion Arepas Inc. Last but not least, he is a host of a Latino radio show named Somos Sabor on the IBNX network. His dream is to have a chain of restaurants where he can show his culture through his food and also create a big net of Latino and Hispanic connections from his radio show.
Has it been a smooth road?
There’s always obstacles and challenges: legalization, language, culture barriers, finances. But like I said, you always have to have a plan to achieve your goals; if the plan doesn’t works, change it! but don’t change the goal. However, the most difficult moment for me was when the mother of my kids got cancer in 2017. From that day my life changed and I became another person, that show me how vulnerable we are and how fragile life is. We definitely haven’t a plan for that! Fortunately we overcome the worst and she’s ok now.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Fusion Arepas – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
There was several venezuelan restaurants since Fusion Arepas was established in 2017 but we are proud to say that we are be the first Venezuelan catering food service of North Metro Atlanta by then. We specialize in Venezuelan arepas and empanadas. We also have appetizer, salads, desserts and now we are doing meal prep. All made with a tropical, caribbean homemade style. We are pretty known in the Atlanta latino community, specifically in the salsa dance socials, festivals and congresses like Atlanta Bachata Fest, Atlanta Salsa Congress, Bailatlanta, Annual New Year’s Eve Party Atlanta and others, as well we have worked with Dangerous Curves Dance Co., Paso Fino Dance Studio, Chino Casino Production, Sanctuary Nightclub, Clahvay Cuban Dance Soul and Gigi’ Global Arts & Events, because we provide the food to the staff members, dancers and performers in those events. We are proud to offer a variety of arepas from traditional recipes from Venezuela to international flavors from USA, Mexico, Italy, Japan and Korea and that’s what sets us apart from our competitors.
