Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriella Griffin.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Gabriella. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Glamatic began as an idea while working amongst a motivating group of women. I knew that I wanted to start a business, and I’ve had a love for fashion since I was a child. I put those two factors together and Glamatic Boutique was born. The reason I chose accessories is because growing up if I ever wanted the latest outfits…I was out of luck because my parents weren’t going for it (ha!). It’s something that was frustrating at the time, but it’s been one of the motivating factors behind my business. By not getting the entire ensemble, it taught me to work with what I had. That’s what accessorizing is to me, taking clothing that you have and adding accessory pieces to make it really pop. I wanted to share that with the world and help people see their wardrobe a little differently.
During the beginning phases of starting my business, I had a lot of support. My family was and is there every step of the way. My friends have also been instrumental in helping Glamatic grow, from giving me business advice to purchasing products. I wouldn’t be at this point without them, thanks, everyone.
Since beginning as an accessories boutique, Glamatic has expanded to a lifestyle blog and added Styled by Gab, which is an image consulting company and an extension of Glamatic Boutique. My company has had the pleasure of participating in several vendor shows, including the Ultimate Women’s Expo, held at the Georgia World Congress Center. We have so many ideas coming for Glamatic and we can’t wait to share it all. Stay tuned!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Entrepreneurship is never a smooth road in my opinion. Glamatic has had its share of ups and downs but is one of the best things I’ve done in my lifetime thus far. Starting a business when you don’t have a lot of funds to contribute, causes you to improvise, A LOT. This can come with a success story or a huge fail, either way, it is a learning experience. That’s what keeps me going during my failing moments, looking at it as a classroom and taking what I’ve learned to become better. Also, time can also be a challenging factor because running a business takes a lot of it. I’ve had to sacrifice a lot of time with loved ones just to work on perfecting my craft and getting everything up to speed. One thing is for certain though, I wouldn’t trade this experience, even with the challenges. The obstacles are what builds your character as an entrepreneur.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Glamatic and Styled by Gab – what should we know?
Glamatic Boutique is an accessories boutique that specializes in jewelry and handbags. We have amazing pieces, and one thing that allows us to stand out is our price point. We feel that style doesn’t have to be expensive, which is why majority of our products are $50 and under. In addition to being an affordable boutique, we are also an image consulting company which allows us to style our clients entirely if needed. We work with a variety of budgets so everyone can receive the Styled by Gab Experience.
Last but not least, one of our most important attributes is that we host an Annual Glamatic Holiday Drive. We choose a different set of items to give away every year in December, and we choose a different set of individuals for each drive. This allows Glamatic to give back to everyone in the community because just like Voyage ATL, we support inclusiveness also.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
First, I have to give credit to my family. The amount of support they have shown is indescribable. I want to acknowledge my wonderful and loving parents who have gone over and beyond to make sure Glamatic succeeds. They haven’t missed any vendor shows; they show up not only to see how things look but to work free of charge (I am one lucky business owner!). My family has been there to make purchases, provide me with tools to use for business and spread the word.
Secondly, my friends deserve credit for playing a major role with Glamatic. They have given me wonderful business advice, modeled for the brand, made purchases, gave feedback at any given time, the list really goes on. I definitely knew before but after starting Glamatic and Styled by Gab, it was further confirmed that I have real, genuine friends. They have been truly amazing and I make sure to celebrate each milestone with them.
Lastly, I would like to acknowledge my Glambabes. Anyone who has made a purchase, read a blog, came to a show, shared a post, etc. You are the driving force behind Glamatic, Styled by Gab and other ideas to come. To everyone involved, I would like to send a major thank you; I’m eternally grateful for the support behind the vision.
