Meet Gabriella Logan of The TxLips Band in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriella Logan.

Gabriella, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started the TxLips Band in February of 2016 because I wanted to see more representation for Women of Color specifically Black Women, in the music industry especially in Rock n roll. I was playing for Diamond (former member of Crime Mob), and shortly after that, Mo (drummer) joined the group and from there we just keep moving and growing and developing in this powerhouse of representation for people that have been excluded from the conversations in music.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been bumps in the road for sure. You can always anticipate bumps in any road. As the manager and front person, I deal with a lot of stress sometimes because there is a lot of pressure to keep things organized and up to speed. I am an Aries and by nature, a very organized person so keeping the band moving and growing has been a struggle but has never and will never stop me. The vision for this band is very specific and we have many goals to reach and won’t stop until we get there.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The TxLips Band – what should we know?
We are a rock band made up of 4 Black Women. We play many and all different genres of music. It is really cool because all of us have different backgrounds and relationships with music so the crowd experiences a realm of diversity within our music and live performances.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My parents! They have been one of the main supporters of this business endeavor and have supported me nonstop since day one.

Mo! Mo is the dopest person/bandmate/coworker anyone can ask for. She is the definition of a true friend and has been rockin with me since day one.
