Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Ivory.
Gabrielle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am Gabrielle Ivory. Young Black women. A loving, beautiful, knowledgeable, and strong woman! Like many, I have also experienced and currently experience being profiled by the color of my skin, but I do NOT and WILL NOT let that, nor anyone deter my success and what God has destined for me! From social media, it’s easy to paint a pretty picture and reflect life is always good. However, I want to be honest and transparent with you all. Life is hard for not just myself but everyone. I’ve fought and currently fighting to prove to the world my worth as a “Black Woman.”
After spending nine years in foster care, moving from home to home to home, my views on life became wicked. My values on family were hatred. My perspective on everything was altered due to the environment I was around and the lack of encouragement for better. Shortly after I was adopted at nine years old, I knew I had two options in life; be the change that I desired and break the chains of statistics, low self-esteem, hatred, pain, and not being a product from what I came from OR continue to self destruct by staying stuck in life using the excuses of my hardships.
I’ve always had a passion for children and told myself as a little girl, if I could give my love to as many children as possible, my purpose in life will be fulfilled. Later on I became a nanny and did just that, being apart of over 100 families’ lives I gave my love to each and every one of those children. I did not finish college and pursued being a nanny in my early adult life. It was looked down upon by everyone in my life as not a real job. Me quitting school to become a babysitter was the rhetorical joke to many. While being a nanny, I was able to take care of myself and live a wonderful life. It turned out I was making much more than the majority of my peers with master degrees and actually loved my job.
I will always say this smile remains graceful not because of making it from what I’ve been through but for where I know I’m going! From all the lives that has had an impact on mine and for the ones that I may bring such an impact, this smile will always remain!
Most use their hardships and past struggles as an excuse for this and that. I use mine as a form of motivation and encouragement to others as my reason why. You never know what an individual is going through or have gone through and that alone is enough of a reason to uplift another. Fulfilling my purpose here on earth, I’m able to complete one family at a time, providing complete care without compromise through The Ivory Agency’s team.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way
Like most journeys, this has been a long journey and feels like it’s just beginning. I will say it has not always been smooth with numerous hiccups in the road.
From standing strong for my passion and not give in to the pressure of my peers and social media.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I wouldn’t change anything differently because then I wouldn’t be where I’m at today.
