Meet Garrett Kopydlowski of John’s Creek Window Washing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Garrett Kopydlowski.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Garrett. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started off as a high-rise window cleaner for South Beach high-rise services at the start of 2013. I was absolutely terrified of heights when i started, but i had a baby on the way, and this was the best job I could find at the time. During 2013-2015, I rappelled off of the W downtown, Pinnacle in Buckhead, all America’s Mart buildings, and the Cox buildings in Dunwoody just to name a few.

I started my business in December 2015. My step dad has his own business building custom homes so those were some of the first homes I cleaned. I designed my own website and passed out flyers in my neighborhood at first then I advertised through Yelp, Groupon, and Facebook.

In December 2016, I listened to a random podcast about business while getting an oil change and it changed my life forever. I decided to reach out to Chris Martinez after listening to the podcast, and he is now one of my business mentors! Since reaching out for help I’ve had my best year ever. I continue to market to my current customers with an app called Send Jim that allows me to send personal postcards and gifts.

I now have monthly window cleaning contracts with some pretty big companies in John’s Creek. Most of the time I clean windows on homes that range from 3,000sq. feet to 12,000sq. feet. I also pressure wash driveways. siding and decks. I hire my friends or family to help me on the really big jobs, but most the time I do all the work myself.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No not at all. When I first started my company my son Gavin was 2 months old. We didn’t know when our next paycheck was coming in so I had to do odd jobs to make up for it. It has also been a lot more time consuming than I expected.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the John’s Creek Window Washing story. Tell us more about the business.
My company name is John’s Creek Window Washing. Our slogan is “Great Windows, Better Prices.” We clean windows on homes and businesses, clean chandeliers and outside light fixtures, and pressure wash. We are known for getting your windows cleaner than they’ve ever been, being polite, professional, and on time. I’m most proud of being the top-rated company by Yelp users for window cleaning in John’s Creek. Our commitment to going above and beyond and also focusing on relationship building is what has set us apart from our competition so far.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ve definitely had my share of good luck when it comes to business. I cleaned windows for an incredible lady that is a marketing expert and she left a review for me on Nextdoor that caused me to have my best month ever in JANUARY. January is normally very slow because of the cold weather. Another one of my customers this year has paid for me to join a financial mentorship class which has been extremely beneficial.
