Today we’d like to introduce you to Genessa Travis.
Genessa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always loved to create products. I was diagnosed with PCOS in my early twenties and I quickly realized “prescriptions” weren’t doing much for me. PCOS combined with Lupus and Sensitive Skin was too much, lol. I started to research and mix my own products. I was so frustrated with spending so much money on the “beauty aisle” and nothing working. At the time, I had a Career I loved in Restaurant Management. I’d pass out products to my servers and developed “burn creams” for my back-line cooks. One day, my Best Friend’s Husband asked why I was giving up my son’s legacy. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I stepped out on faith, started my brand and here we are four years later. I was blessed to be able to quit my career job and live in the dream.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road was smooth in some ways. Initially, the business was slow, and I was still working 50 plus hours a week. I was losing sleep, stressed and had ideas that were too small. I thought “handwritten” labels would set me apart from other brands. That worked until one night, well early morning that I’d been writing labels longer than it took to mix the products. My brand has succeeded strictly by word of mouth.

Juices is lovingly named after my son Zaiden and a play on Coming to America’s “juice’s and berries” line. We specialize in plant-based products with a focus on Sensitive Skin, Eczema and healthy Yoni’s. I’m most proud of the reviews and the trust I’ve built with my brand. I still cry tears when Queen’s tell me they can go makeup-free, they avoided a Blood Transfusion from heavy cycles, that their babies no longer need prescriptions for their Eczema, and mostly they’ve been able to enjoy sex again! I think the thing that sets my brand apart from others is that I mix EVERY PRODUCT myself.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think our city is amazing for new brand’s. I would recommend being transparent with my intended customer base. I remind Queen’s and King’s they are ROYALTY daily! That doesn’t mean we’re perfect, it means we’re destined for greatness.
