Today we’d like to introduce you to Genevieve Dame.
Genevieve, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a business litigation attorney in Atlanta. Over my fourteen years of practice, I have worked in large and small firms, and now I own my firm in Perimeter: Dame Law. At Dame Law, we handle complex cases – cases that are an absolute mess. These cases usually touch on several areas: business disputes, real estate, probate, sometimes white collar crime, insurance, employee issues, etc. Our clients come to us by way of referral, from CPAs, attorneys, and former clients. Accordingly, we field calls from potential clients who are not having their best days. They are stressed, sometimes short on cash, sometimes the business is failing or is threatened in some way, and they need swift, candid advice about how to untangle the mess and get it resolved as quickly as possible. As you can imagine, that work is expensive. Resolving a mess usually requires countless hours of work on both the part of the firm and the client. Sadly, many times, a client needs my help, but they just cannot afford it. That is why I started a new business this year called DivorceForBusiness.com.
What else should our readers know?
DivorceForBusiness.com is an alternative to litigating. If business partners are having a dispute, they don’t need to lawyer up anymore. Instead, we provide a one-day (or longer) mediation program specifically designed for business breakups. The parties agree to mediate the case with an experienced business litigator, and at the end of the day, they will better understand their legal situation, and they may have a proposal for a resolution. They can then choose to sign an agreement to resolve the issue or not: either way the entire process is voluntary and confidential. What is said in mediation cannot be introduced in court later, and everything is kept confidential between the parties and mediator. Moreover, if you need an appraisal or business valuation during this process, we can do that too.
The best part is that DivorceForBusiness.com is flat fee. So, for a fraction of the price of retaining two attorneys (one for each side of the dispute), the parties can get the case resolved, and they should also be able to enter the cost as a business expense (speak to your CPA first). This is a no-bull way of resolving a business dispute, and it is the only program in Atlanta that I know of that offers it because I carefully designed it after two years of research.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I was inspired to create DivorceForBusiness.com by recognizing the synergy between seasoned, top tier attorneys wanting to mediate cases after a full career of litigation and business partners who demand cost-effective means of resolving business disputes without litigating.
