Meet George Karampoulis of Hercules Commercial Inspections

Today we’d like to introduce you to George Karampoulis.

Hi George, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started in 2010 when I first connected with relatives in the United States I had never met before. I sent them a simple email saying that if they ever visited Greece, I would love the opportunity to meet them. Instead, they invited me to the U.S. for my cousin’s wedding. That visit changed my life.

After returning to Greece, I completed my mandatory military service and then came back to the United States on a student visa. I studied Construction Management while working for a small construction company in Savannah, Georgia.

During that time, I often asked my boss why we didn’t tell clients about other issues we noticed in their homes that we could repair. His answer was simple: we were hired for a specific task, and we should stick to that. One day he smiled and said, “You know, you annoy me sometimes… you find every little thing. You should become an inspector.”

And that is exactly what I did.

Around that same time, I met the woman who would become my wife. Today we have two amazing children, and if there is one thing I know I did right in my life, it is building this family. I later became a United States citizen, and I take pride in contributing to a country that gave me the opportunity to build a career doing something I truly enjoy—helping people.

I began with residential inspections. I may not be famous in the media, but within my industry and community I am known for something simple: I care deeply about my clients. I often answer calls late in the evening or on weekends because sometimes a quick ten-minute conversation can bring a lot of peace of mind to someone making one of the biggest decisions of their life.

At the same time, I have always protected what matters most. When I am with my family, nothing else in the world exists.

Years later, my family and I moved from Savannah to North Georgia. Over time, the small inspector became a Certified Master Inspector. Residential inspections grew into commercial inspections, and after receiving Best of Georgia awards in 2024 and 2025, a new chapter began.

Today I am even more hungry for knowledge, experience, and opportunities to help people—not only with their homes but also with the buildings where they will start their businesses and pursue their own dreams.

When the weight of a major property decision feels overwhelming, that is where we come in.

Hercules Commercial Inspections — Keeping Eyes Open, Not Fingers Crossed.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my biggest challenges has always been that I tend to overthink things. In some ways that is actually helpful in my profession because attention to detail is essential in inspections, but it also means I constantly push myself to improve and question whether I could have done something even better.

Another major obstacle early on was the language barrier. When I first moved to the United States, I did not speak English well. Movies and music helped me learn quickly, and my family helped me understand everyday slang and communication. Over time, that challenge became part of my growth and helped me adapt to a new country and culture.

In business, one challenge I face is that I refuse to sell services that clients do not truly need. In any industry there will always be people who are willing to take shortcuts or use aggressive sales tactics. That has never been my approach. I believe honesty, ethics, and doing the right thing for the client will always matter more in the long run.

I simply focus on doing the best job I can with the values my parents taught me. With faith, hard work, and perseverance, we continue moving forward and providing the level of service our clients deserve.

As you know, we’re big fans of Hercules Commercial Inspections. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Throughout my journey in this profession, I was fortunate to find mentors in different forms. Some were friends who taught me a great deal about the technical side of the business. One of them also taught me an unexpected lesson when business eventually came before friendship. While that experience was difficult, it ultimately helped shape my values and reinforced the kind of professional I want to be.

I have also learned from people with strong integrity, such as the owner of the software platform I use for my inspection reports. Seeing someone run a business without compromising their principles has been inspiring and a reminder that success does not have to come at the expense of ethics.

Along the way, many other inspectors -some well known in the industry and others less so- have shared knowledge and guidance. I believe there is something to learn from everyone, both from positive examples and from mistakes that show us what not to do.

Today, I try to pay that forward. I enjoy mentoring newer inspectors, sharing what I have learned, and making myself available to answer questions. Our profession grows stronger when we support each other and raise the standard together.
