Meet GFM Bandz of Grind For Mine DaLabel in Gwinnett

Today we’d like to introduce you to GFM Bandz.

GFM, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story isn’t much different from others. My struggle and experiences are though. I grew up in one of the poorest part of South Carolina, Kingstree SC. Great people family but the environment isn’t where it needs to be. Like most hoods its gangs, drugs, such unfortunately I fell into the stereotype got in some trouble but eventually music became my only form of escape to be me, to separate myself from that life. I have videos of my friends and I just messing around rapping having fun. Even if it was my cousins making the music, it just helped me to keep right. Those moments only lasted so long though and I got back into the lifestyle fell off on the music. I stayed in school through very proud of myself for that. I then came to Atlanta and saw what I could do to be a much better version of myself. Got back into my music and been going hard since.

Has it been a smooth road?
No one ever has a smooth road to success. Especially in today’s world. Even when I was young in school, I had things going on in the background many people don’t even know. Like having to reuse bleach jugs and juice bottles to gather water from a filter pump underground just to take baths, no beds just couches, my childhood was so devastating when came to terms of living conditions no water meant no wash clothes, so I often had to wear a lot of things two to three times a week just to get by, living with different family members yet going through that I still graduated, and went to college. Struggling doesn’t stop anyone from achieving anything. It did help me to handle the struggles I’ve experienced with adulthood and music. From shows being canceled, sometimes people I was working with leaving me to dry, getting turned down for events, just a bunch of unfortunate events. Everything for reason, I’m still doing way better than I could imagine in such a short time. I’m always going to put my all into my career no matter what due to my past. I’m actually looking forward to the challenges ahead because I know I’m going to win against them.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Grind For Mine DaLabel – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I’m growing many businesses, my main one, however, is my Label: GFM Records, Grind For Mine DaLabel. Going to be one of the biggest Recording Labels in the south. Grind For Mine means you doing what’s needed to accomplish anything and everything you want. My label will feature artist from every part of the industry trying to simply better themselves for the future ahead. It’s not a regular Record Label either, I will engage with my artist physically put in the same amount of work I did for myself for them. Give opportunities to everyone because I know what it feels like for someone to not even give you the time of day. My Label is why my music career is so important, I want to be able to put my people on myself to become greatness. Most record companies stop doing that I won’t.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
One thing that I definitely admire about being in Atlanta is the opportunity and advantages it gives you as a whole. Here, when one wants to inspire their dreams, no matter what they might be the type of culture, ATL has the people and the environment itself will support you it’s a gift. Great variety of food like beyond I even seen. Like you can go to any county and find something different to eat. I don’t have many dislikes about Atlanta but the traffic here is crazy.
