Meet Gia Tejeda of All Things College in Greater Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gia Tejeda.

Gia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Tribulation to Triumph, Going from a 14 to a 29 on the most mentally draining test aside from the SAT, the ACT. From being hopeless to finding purpose and meaning. All Things College is the true definition of breaking glass ceilings, and I am a testament to that. My name is Gia Taijae Tejeda, and I am the Founder of All Things College. I unofficially began my work now known as All Things College as a freshman in high school. I noticed a common denominator: my peers and I were struggling with the idea of mastering the ACT/SAT, applying for scholarships, and the college application process. Therefore, I cultivated an environment where everyone could learn together. I began sending scholarship lists to students and parents, helping students apply for college, assisting students in fixing their resumes, and hosting her #AllThingsCollege workshops. At my workshops, I would travel to local high schools around Georgia and teach students how to prepare for college. I was even invited to speak in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the DMV area. I saw a need in my community and acted upon it. Something that was just a story about my college journey, shortcomings, and victories turned into a source of hope and motivation for students in their journeys across the United States.

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest challenge I have encountered is running my business and being a full-time high school/ college student. I am very outgoing and social yet enjoy my “me time.” Therefore, being able to allocate proper time to ensure my success in school, while time to be auspicious in my business, social life, and other aspects have been challenging. However, I am progressively working toward the concept of mastering time management and organization.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with All Things College – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
All Things College was founded upon our mission, which is committed to bridging the gap within the minority community to help students understand the entire aspect of the college application process while assisting them to receive the best results. The primary purpose of All Things College is to Advocate for quality education by informing students and parents nationwide on college readiness, standardized test-prep, and scholarships, ensuring an increase in minority economic growth and college retention rates. I host #AllThingsCollege workshops where I travel to high schools across the United States and share my journey as a student-entrepreneur, discuss the importance of college readiness, and the tools to be successful in one’s #AllThingsCollege journey. All Things College is two-pronged. I provide one-on-one support where students can book a consultation or purchase our College Board and E-book. Additionally, we offer four different services. We have even partnered with Spelman College to host a financial aid workshop. Essentially, A goal that I have set out for All Things College is to boost the numbers of minority students attending college and earn scholarships. To bridge the gap between students who can’t afford to remain at their dream schools. I am most proud that I can reach students who feel as though it is too late. Talk to the students who have been told they would never amount to anything and that they should stop dreaming so big. I was once in that position, and no one should ever put a limitation on one’s potential. I want All Things College to make an impact, regardless of how big or small.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia, two years after Hurricane Katrina. I like to say I’m Nola made, ATL raised! New Orleans will always be home, but Atlanta has adopted me. I decided to further my collegiate education at Spelman College because I am so fond of Atlanta. This community has been so supportive of me and all of my endeavors; down to my very first business, Pretty hair Posse. My love for this city is truly unmatched, and for that reason, I don’t dislike any aspect.
