Today we’d like to introduce you to Gian Crunk.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Gian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m known as “Mr. Crunk”, and I am the sites creator and main contributor. My goal is to just share “Crunk” stuff to the world and generate meaningful conversations.
I’m 29, and a graduate of Georgia State University with a B.A in Economics; International & Human Resource Concentrations; Minor. Psychology.
I originally introduced myself to this industry in 2010 by creating and starting FYF Entertainment with a few other of my college friends. However, I was forced to take break from the industry for military and personal reasons. During this time, I also acquired experience in the corporate sector by specializing in insurance. In addition, I worked in the non-profit sector, where I specialized in social-emotional learning and human behavior. Now I’m back and hungrier than ever!
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been all roses and still isn’t. I officially launched Crunk Live, LLC in June of 2018. Before that, I was finishing college. I dealt with depression from a bad military contract, to finding out I was the product of a non-consentiual sex act. The destruction of my attempt to rebuild a relationship with my father played in role in my development. I’ve lost friends. Family members have betrayed me. My closest sibling was incarcerated and is still serving time. Yet all of these things have culminated in a burning desire to share interesting things to the world. I love sharing life and being able to capture people enjoying life. Which is why I started a media company. To promote a positive image of the black community while providing a platform to share media that’s created by positive black role models. It still a challenge to find opportunities yet, each day is another chance to do just that!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I feel Atlanta is a growing city. There are numerous opportunities to network and grow a brand. Atlanta is house to a lot of competition so it’s not a city for the fence rider. If you want to be successful in Atlanta, you have to work and keep working. Yet, if you can prove your consistency, Atlanta is a place that can turn your local name into a global name overnight.
