Today we’d like to introduce you to Glory Jewitt.
Hi Glory, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
A little about me – I am the Global Head of Environment, Health & Safety at Google, overseeing operations for global data centers. A passionate advocate for women in leadership, I have been featured in publications like The Wall Street Times and was honored as one of the “Women Who Mean Business” by the Houston Business Journal in 2025. Today, I live in Atlanta with my husband, Eric, and our three children.
I have recently written an international best selling book called – In Pursuit of Glory
The book is more than a professional timeline, it’s the raw truth of what it takes to climb from the ground up.
I started my career as a laborer in the rugged Canadian Oil Sands, facing grueling conditions and immense uncertainty. Decades later, that path led me to an executive role at a company I deeply admire, Google.
To anyone who has ever doubted their journey, struggled with balancing career and family, or felt like the odds were stacked against them – this book is for you.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Climbing the corporate ladder in a male-dominated field is often described as a marathon, but for many women, it feels more like an obstacle course—one where the hurdles are invisible and the rules of the game are frequently unwritten.
In industries like construction, oil and gas, or heavy tech, the challenge isn’t just about outworking the person in the next cubicle. It’s about navigating a culture where “leadership” has historically been defined by masculine traits, and where being the only woman in the room means your mistakes are magnified while your successes are often qualified.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Glory Jewitt is a force of nature in the world of Environment, Health, and Safety,(EHS) currently leading global EHS initiatives for Google. But her journey to the top wasn’t paved with rose petals. In Pursuit of Glory is her story—a memoir of grit, determination, and navigating the often-uneven playing field of a male-dominated industry. From the rugged terrain of the Canadian Oil Sands, where she cut her teeth managing EHS on massive industrial projects, to the executive suites of a global engineering, construction management firm and the fast-paced world of Amazon Transportation Services, Glory’s career has been a relentless climb. But her story isn’t just about professional triumphs. In Pursuit of Glory also explores the delicate balance of a demanding career with the joys and challenges of motherhood and family life, including the inevitable ups and downs of relationships. It pulls back the curtain on the challenges, triumphs, and hard-won wisdom gained over 25+ years in male dominated industries, offering a unique perspective on what it means to be a woman, a leader, a partner, and a mother in today’s world. It’s a story of resilience, leadership, and what it truly means to find your authentic self on your own terms.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The next five years will usher in a “Data Center Gold Rush,” transforming what was once a quiet backbone of the internet into the primary engine of the global economy. As we move toward 2030, several forces are converging to create a landscape that will look fundamentally different from today:
1. The AI Power Surge
The explosion of Generative AI is shifting the industry from “storage-first” to “compute-first.” Experts project that global data center capacity could more than triple by 2030, with capital expenditures reaching a staggering $1 trillion. This isn’t just growth; it’s a total architectural overhaul. We are moving away from traditional server racks to high-density, liquid-cooled “AI factories” capable of processing trillions of parameters in seconds.
