Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I originally wanted to be a mortician because I was a shy kid. My life changed forever in July 2000! That’s when I heard the main anchor at the NBC station in Birmingham, AL talk about her career and the light bulb came on! It has been shining bright since then. I ended up visiting that station and I remember going back to school saying I wanted to be a news anchor/reporter.

My teacher told me that TV news may not be the career for me and I should change my path. I used her negative comments as ammunition to succeed. I am so blessed to have amazing parents, family and friends who have pushed me to reach my goals.

GregFunderburg.com – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a news anchor, but I spend countless hours speaking, hosting and mentoring people. I am so grateful God has blessed me and I love reaching back to help others.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I look at success as an opportunity to reach back and help others. I am so blessed with a great platform and I love shining the light on other people. I think the greater blessing is when I can elevate other people.
