Today we’d like to introduce you to Greice Murphy.
Greice, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I moved from Brazil to Atlanta in 2003 to work as a currency trader for a major regional finance firm. Then in 2007 I moved from the finance sector into a major retailer helping them financially navigate its post-recession future. During this time, I got married and was expecting my first child. I knew that I didn’t want to be a stay-at-home mom so I came to my husband Jim (who is founder and CEO of Afterburner) and we started to brainstorm what type of business we should start next. Being a business owner was always my dream and I knew I had the strengths and persistence to be successful. Jim had previously finished consulting work with a home health care company in Texas that was very intriguing to us, so we decided that this would be the perfect match for me since my passion is in healthcare and finance-so we launched into it and called our company Advanced Care Pediatrics. Myself along with two other like-minded partners founded ACP in July 2010 focused on changing the undeserved Georgia medically fragile children community. Since then, we have been growing exponentially at a 40% + rate year-over-year and we are the fastest growing Private Home Care company in Georgia. We have had many accomplishments to include two back-to-back INC 5000 list recipients in 2016 and 2017. The secret to our success: Always do the right thing for our patients and caregivers and have a team aligned to our mission. As we continue to grow, commitment and quality of care are the keys to sustain our brand.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We are a home care company and one of the challenges we face every day is to keep our caregivers, who work at the patient’s homes or schools, engaged. Efficient communication is the primarily focus of our daily tasks.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Advanced Care Pediatrics story. Tell us more about the business.
Advanced Care Pediatrics is a Home Care Company that provides Skilled Nursing Care and Personal Care Support to Medically Fragile Children and Adults in the comfort of their homes or schools. Most of our patients are part of the GAPP (Georgia Pediatric Program) and COMP/NOW Waiver Programs. These programs offer services such as nursing care to families that are eligible for Medicaid at no cost for the families. In other words, GA Medicaid partners with providers like ACP to serve their Kids who meets the same level of care as necessary for admission to a hospital or skilled nursing facility.
We specialize in-home or school pediatric and adult skilled nursing care delivered by RNs and LPNs and personal care support services delivered by CNAs.
