Meet David Barton, Sebastian Romano and Troy Meyers of Guac y Margys

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Barton, Sebastian Romano, and Troy Meyers.

Ever been on a run along the Atlanta BeltLine, seen an awesome space for lease, and thought, “Man, I’d love to open a bar right there…” Well, that’s how GUAC Y MARGYS began 🏃 There’s a bit more to the story, but to keep it short and simple – we’re here to be Atlanta’s Margarita Bar! We make carefully crafted margaritas that are all about taste, not sugar; and guacamole that will revolutionize your taste buds. 👅

At Guac y Margys, we’re all about being just right. The right margarita flavor. The right spices in the guac. The right menu length.

We’re direct
Nothing needs to be sugar-coated except the rims of our margarita glasses if you ask (or salt, if that’s your style
Or naked if you’re feeling wild).

We’re a restaurant run by three people not related to each other, but we’d never describe ourselves as anything other than family. That’s because we’re comfortable.

We’re comfortable being straightforward but will take extra care to make sure every guest is satisfied. We’re comfortable being honest, and know how to create flavors that speak the truth. We’re comfortable being ourselves and will welcome anyone who walks off the Beltline with open arms.

Everyone is treated the same way. Whether you’re coming from Krog Street or the heart of Inman Park, anyone is welcome. And everyone actually feels welcome.

They feel our passion the moment they step inside. Passion that started from the three owners and extends to everyone who sips a margarita.

It may not be perfect, but hell – it’ll be just right.

And just right is way more important to us than perfect. Because perfect is boring. Perfect doesn’t fit in – it feels unattainable, not relatable.

We’ve put time and effort and thought into every minute piece of Guac y Margys
And you’re gonna know it. And feel it. We know we’re doing something special. We’re confident, but don’t need to show off. We’re confident that our margaritas are the fresh blend of lime juice and agave that the Beltline doesn’t know it needs.

Confident that our guac will cause an absolute frenzy any day of the week. Confident that our short, changeable menu will satisfy every stubborn taste bud. We’re a place that’s designed to be a comfortable, enjoyable home.

GyM is owned and operated by David Barton, Sebastian Romano & Troy Meyers.

Guac y Margys is Atlanta’s Margarita Bar on the BeltLine. Our motto is Community, Friendship, Conversation, Good Vibes.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The three of us have a little bit of combined restaurant experience, but not a ton. So there was a huge learning curve. Thankfully, the Atlanta restaurant community is VERY HELPFUL. We went around and met restaurant owners and asked questions. A few even became a sort of mentor group for us.

Guac y Margys – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in fresh #nomix margaritas and freshly made food with a TON of flavor, which sets us apart. We are proud to be Atlanta’s Margarita Bar and always love to hear someone walk in the door and say “I don’t really like tequila, what should I have? We have a 98% success rate of converting those people into tequila lovers 🙂 They just haven’t had a margarita made the RIGHT WAY.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Opening our doors just seven months after signing the lease. We work harder than what is probably healthy, lol.
