Meet Guy Hollcroft of Nana G’s Chicken & Waffles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Guy Hollcroft.

Guy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Chik-n-waffles…What are you crazy???? That’s what my best friend said to me over drinks in a local pub in South Beach around 2:30 in the morning. When I told him I was selling everything and taking my grandmothers “chik-n-waffles to the streets of Atlanta on a food truck. Fact is, Chicken & Waffles crosses every age group and every race. All cultures like fried chicken from the 100 year old grandmothers to the 18-year old hipsters.

Nana G lived to be 104, she was my grandmother. She was making chicken & waffles for her family. Her recipes are very simple from her Belgian style waffles, to marinating her chicken with many secret spices and buttermilk. It’s been 5 years now. My brother Drew, and mom, have played a big part in making Nana Gs what it is today. We are world famous, been on many TV shows, featured in major magazines. Just this past month, ESPN approached us, and wanted to do a small commercial we had friends in other states, sitting in bars, looking up and couldn’t believe Nana Gs was on TV again. We have been blessed.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We’re a rolling kitchen. Our biggest obstacle and Challenge is Atlanta’s TRAFFIC. We sit in it morning, noon, and night. We are a family business, so with this in mind, we can step on each other’s toes, so to speak. But at the end of the day, “family comes first”. We have made a commitment to each other, to build a brand, and be proud of our accomplishments

Nana G’s Chicken & Waffles – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Nana Gs been in business now for 5 years. We are a food truck, like any restaurant, early hours, and late nights. Heavy lifting, winters are cold, inside a truck is cold. Summers are hot. I run the business. As a family business, we might do the cooking, taking the orders, purchasing the supplies, planning events. We are all multi-tasking all the time. We have treated our friends, customers, acquaintances, the way we want to be treated. We do our very best to make sure our food is consistently good

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I believe I have been successful because I put my heart, soul, mind, in the smallest acts. Success is attitude. Success is over coming fear. I feel I am successful because I like what I do. I have love, family, friends, and good health.
