Today we’d like to introduce you to Gya’ (Jah).
Raised on the east side of Atlanta, Gya’ originally began writing music for his musical peers. After realizing his talent was more than just a hobby he began to record his own lyrics at 18. With his passive-aggressive melodic style he quickly began to realize the type of trance he could lead us all into. Either it being from a melodic hum in an ad lib or a cinematic skit, he is always grasping your attention.
Born Gyasi he decided to simply shorten his name after going through so many he decided his birth given name would be the most realistic for his journey. “Sh**t to be honest with you, if you like putting bricks in ya trunk or maskin up four and five times a day, I don’t suggest tuning in cause I promise you ain’t finna like me”. A recent comment made by Gya’ when describing his style of music. He says he’d rather not dwell on what was and what used to be, but more on what is and what’s going on.
Has it been a smooth road?
As far as the process from then to now. There’s been some good and bad, ups and downs. For the most part, it’s all been a learning experience and I think that’s most important in all of it.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Rich Regardless Productions story. Tell us more about the business.
Rich Regardless is the label that I am signed to and co-found. Being an independent black-owned business before 25 with no college degree is something we can definitely be proud of. Once the community is able to see what we’re capable of, I believe they’ll be to tell the difference between us and them.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Quite honestly music is everlasting so who knows I just hope I’m there to see what’s up.
