Today we’d like to introduce you to Halie Wooldridge.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started out my career in 2015 in the Modeling Industry, doing editorial shoots, runway and hair modeling for magazines, about a year after my first son was born. On a set in 2016 I met a wonderful Makeup Artist who’s work I fell in love with and we ended up getting together after the shoot and becoming friends and speaking, on mostly social media, for the next year. (I got pregnant with my second child and took a break from the industry.) In 2017, I left the abusive relationship I was in with my children’s father and could finally pursue my passion for makeup. I reconnected with this artist and she took me under her wing and trained me. I started doing friend’s hair and makeup and then moved on to Weddings part-time, mostly weekends, in 2018 while working a full-time job. The more traction I got the more obvious it became to me that this is what I should be doing. I loved it. Last July, I quit my full-time job as an Office Manager at a Home Automation/ Low Voltage company and started doing hair and makeup full time. I now have a team of 10 amazingly talented women. Corina, Olivia, Jessica, Alisha, Lorena, Makeeba, Kelsey, Hunter, Kimberly and Lauren!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting out in the Bridal Industry, I had, basically, no knowledge of what it really entailed. It was definitely a learning curve to realize just how much administrative work and organization went into this job. Realizing it’s not just something I can pop on my calendar and show up to was the first step! Getting my advertising techniques, contracts, invoices, scheduling processes, payments, etc. organized was by far the “thick of it” – haha. Now that I have moved past the basics, my business is much more organized and professional.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Hairstylist and Makeup Artist that specializes in Bridal and Soft Glam looks. I own Lush Beauty Bar ATL and run a fantastic team of 8 (+ me) women that travel and do hair and makeup for Weddings and Special Events. We are known for having quick response times, easy booking procedures and making your special day run smoothly and efficiently!
I am most proud of where I am now versus where I was… Thinking back to just 5-6 years ago when I was the most unhappy I have ever been in my life to now, the happiest I have ever been, I can’t help but be so proud of the woman I am now and all of my accomplishments as a mother, fiance and business owner. My passion for my work never goes unnoticed, everyone who knows me knows the love I have for the industry, my business, my employees and my clients.
How do you define success?
I define success as doing what God has planned for me and doing it well. I am a strong believer in Christ, our savior, and His words. I believe this is His plan for me as of now and as long as I wake up every day and strive to be the best mom, fiance, business owner, friend and servant I can be to Him, I am successful. Success in my line of work is not making the most money or working the most hours, it is creating bonds and relationships through your work that will plant seeds to help the garden of your works flourish.
