Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Ragghianti.
Hi Hannah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a Multimedia Makeup Artist and I’ve been working in the industry for six years now. My journey to get here wasn’t as straightforward as some and I ventured through a long learning period before coming to the conclusion that this passion could be turned into a career. After learning that the traditional college experience wasn’t the path meant for me, I moved to Manhattan, New York where I attended The Makeup Designory and explored all areas of makeup artistry. This experience gave me the opportunity to try new things and I moved back to Georgia with the confidence to dive head first into making new connections within the beauty industry.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Getting to where I am today didn’t always look pretty. Before I took a chance in the beauty industry, I struggled my way through college both academically and personally. It was clear that I had to take a look at my life and where I was going before I could successfully move forward. I have had a tremendous amount of support from my loved ones and a fellowship of people around me who have encouraged my growth mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Currently, the majority of my work is within the wedding industry. I provide on-site services to brides for any occasion from engagement photo sessions to their wedding day! I love bringing a bride’s (or groom’s!) vision to life and creating a look that is unique to them and allows them to feel beautiful on their special day. Outside of weddings, I cater to clients needing makeup services for a magnitude of events, both personal and professional. Although a large scope of my work is considered to be beauty makeup, I do work in the Special Effects area as well. When I was in school, my favorite course was SFX and it led me to have a dream to one day take my work into the movie industry. A major goal of mine is to have my work shown in a horror movie one day! Polar opposite works of the industry, but I admire them both!
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The beauty industry, as we know, is a rapidly changing one. Trends are constantly coming and going and creators are coming up with newer and more unique ways of using makeup. Something that I have loved seeing and hope continues is the inclusivity within the industry. Although some brands have worked to create a larger shade range made for more ethnicities and skin types, I hope more people speak out on the necessity of doing so. Artistry (in any form) is something that shouldn’t be limited to skin type/color or sex. It is meant for men and women alike and I think that the makeup industry will grow to show this.
