Meet Heather May

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather May.

Hi Heather, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Heather May, owner and Licensed esthetician of Heather May Skin and Body. Welcome to my world! I have been working in this career of health and beauty for over 21 years. Began my journey working in resort spas in Colorado and moved to Georgia in 2000, where I went to esthetician school at ISSN and while finishing school, worked in a Spa in Sandy Springs as front desk coordinator. Working as a spa coordinator while finishing school was a great way to learn both sides of the spa business. To this day, the two estheticians and facial GURU’s that helped me learn and grow are still actively practicing and still very trusted in my life. I had been in laser centers and Plastic surgery offices for 13 years, then moved to outside sales for skincare and device sales. I was able to step away from the treatment room for about 3.5 years and learn more about education and training which was very exciting for me! I worked as Southeast Territory Manager for Jurlique, Auspect Skincare and Young Pharmaceuticals. After being away from clients, I decided in 2016 to open my own business and create a space for skin and health. My passion for skincare, healthy eating, exercise, meditation and yoga (i got my yoga certification in 2016)) became a passion to link all of my life’s work and merge it into my new profession.

My approach to true skin health is rarely achieved through “one size fits most”strategies. My goal is to work with each client to provide personalized skincare in order to help achieve optimal skin and body results. My passion is to enhance my client’s overall wellness and ensure that we are empowered to look, feel, and BE our very Best! I have been spending the last four years creating a health and wellness center where we can encourage healthy skin through our nutrition, clean and pure topicals, breathing and meditation as well as adding Kangen water to my spa to ensure that we are using only alkaline water for all of our treatments and topicals.

I have also partnered with Isagenix, a leading wellness company for over 19 years to bring an easy and affordable way to consume top-notch nutrition, meal replacement shakes and collagen elixer.

I give customized facials offer Sunlighten Infared sauna treatments.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life has been great in my career! But I have to say that the last two years were the absolute worst! I actually had expanded and partnered with some other practitioners at the end of 2019. We invested a lot of time and money during the pandemic to prepare for a great opening. The pandemic really derailed us.

I had a business partner who had established clients as a nutrition coach and bodybuilding coach but we quickly found out that he wanted to open several.

Locations while I wanted to keep our my space more personal and intimate:

My clients have been coming to me for the last 10-20 years. Heather may take care of her people. She is a caregiver and so much of that has left our world with all the medical spas out there.

I want to do things holistically as possible.

We are what we absorb therefore, I believe eating and breathwork, along with internal supplements and intermittent fasting, while we drink pure alkaline water, we can reverse the aging process.

Doing Guasha and microcurrent are natural ways to keep the face muscles lifted and more youthful while using clean skincare (I love Korean skincare personally)

My husband and I are both in love with exercise and eating Whole Foods.

I finally was able to let him go and begin my journey on my own again this fall!

This has been so much more.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am health nut! What sets me apart in my treatment space is my unique facials and how I incorporate infrared saunas, Celluma LeD therapy and hypnosis into my facials. I love yoga (so breath work during my facials is very important to me)

I want my clients to release tension and I live using microcurrent and Guasha stones during my facials as well.

I recently purchased a Kangen water filtration system into my spa so I can provide healthy alkaline waters into my treatments and sell alkaline water to clients and offer healthy water for people suffering with diseases such as autoimmune, diabetes and cancer. This will be able to provide clients with a monthly membership to get the best water for the body.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Atlanta traffic has always been a thorn.

The downtown areas have been harder to find parking.

Always so much to do which I love. I am from a small town up north, so I love living in Atlanta so much! We live a little further out now, but I have lived in Marietta, Smyrna, Sandy Springs, Cumming, Woodstock and now Canton!

Going to the city is easy and takes less than 45 minutes…

I feel like I have the best of both worlds.
