Today we’d like to introduce you to Heri Mumma.
Heri, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been interested in different creative avenues. In high school, I started editing videos and working on commercials. I went so far as to audition for a radio DJ position for Ryan Seacrest’s radio station in Atlanta and landed the opportunity. I did that for a year and loved it. Though I went on to college to study engineering, I still had a creative pull to dabble in something. Eventually, I picked up my camera and just started capturing images. I found myself wanting to learn more and to capture different things until one style stuck. Before I knew it, I was hooked.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Like anything, no, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Some of the struggles included comparing myself to others in the different skills I would try. It would become discouraging, but thankfully, I didn’t let it stop me. I’ve done quite a bit of hopping around, but I’ve found something I really love to do and I love learning about. That’s all that matters to me now.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mumma’s Marvels Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is Mumma’s Marvels Photography that is a people-centered photography business. I mostly shoot couples, families, and weddings. My style is warm, light and airy to bring out authentic joy, happiness and special moments. I genuinely care about each of my clients and want them to have the best experience working with me. I think that translates in my images and sets me apart. I’m most proud of that as a business – being able to build relationships with the people I work with.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not much of a good luck or bad luck type of person. I’ve been extremely blessed throughout my life and my business.
