Today we’d like to introduce you to Hirshy Minkowicz.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In the summer of 1998 I moved here from Brooklyn, New York, to open a Jewish educational and outreach center to serve the North Fulton community.
We started from nothing and immediately set out to network and connect with the local community. We quickly discovered that the North Fulton demographic was very diverse so we created programs and services to serve the various age groups in the community.
Fast forward 19 years later and we now have a very vibrant educational center complete with Synagogue services, adult education, social services, and a broad range of youth programs.
We own a 7 acre campus in the heart of Johns Creek, where we are in the midst of building a 22,000 square foot facility to serve as the permanent home for our work.
Has it been a smooth road?
By and large the road was fairly smooth. Some of the early struggles were; gaining acceptance from the local community and earning the respect and appreciation for our work. Of course, as a non profit, fundraising is always a challenge, however – thank God – we have been able to continue serving the community uninterrupted for 19 strong years so far.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Chabad on North Fulton story. Tell us more about the business.
We provide educational and outreach services to the Jewish community. We teach Jews about Judaism.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As people continue to integrate more meaning into their life, the role that spiritual providers provide will only increase over time.
